The Double Dipsea Cottage has a two bedrooms and two full bathrooms, one with a clawfoot tub, plus a large living/dining room and gorgeous gardens. Spacious lounging areas inside and out! The location can't be beat - less than two minutes to stroll to the sand and right at the base of the trails of Mt Tam. To rent the whole property search for The Whole Shebang; to rent the other side search for the Steep Ravine. Fall asleep to the sounds of the waves!

The space
The Double Dipsea Cottage is one of two main cottages on the property. (Important: to find the other two listings search for STEEP RAVINE and WHOLE SHEBANG. They don’t always all show up for some reason.) This two bedroom cottage was just renovated top to bottom and is fresh, beautiful, and comfortable. You will have your own entrance and three private garden areas, one with a sun deck, outdoor dining table, plus a big hot tub.

Inside, you'll enter into a great room with a very comfortable and large sectional couch and large dining table. A set of vintage lockers holds beach towels, beach blankets, and extra supplies. Off the living room is a brand new kitchen with stone counters and a dishwasher and espresso machine. At the other end of the great room is the bedroom with a queen bed (organic latex mattress and down bedding) and a small full bathroom with heated floors.

On the other side of the kitchen is a second bedroom, this one set up with a king bed and the option of a single floor mattress with bedding (stored in closet). There is a beautiful clawfoot tub bathroom built into this bedroom. Sliding glass doors bring you out of this space into a private garden with an outdoor shower, lounge chairs, and a pair of adirondack chairs. Climbing roses and jasmine cover the fences in this little private oasis. Divine!

Please note that this rental is best for five people.

The house was just renovated top to bottom, so all windows, kitchen, bathrooms, etc are brand new and solidly constructed. It's furnished with sustainable vintage wares and thoughtfully sourced new items too (couch, beds, kitchenwares, etc).

Please note that because there are two units within one larger structure, there are times when some noise might travel through the building. There are double walls between the cottages, so you can't hear voices, but loud footsteps sometimes can be heard or felt through the floorboards. For this reason, we ask for quiet hours from 10 pm to 7 am. If you want to hang out loudly after 10 or before 7, there's always the beach just steps away! Grab a cozy blanket from the house and head on down to gaze at the stars.

Neighborhood highlights

The town of Stinson Beach is a truly magical place. Nestled between a long arc of sandy beach to the west and glorious Mt Tam to the east, Stinson is one of the most soul-lifting, smile-making spots on earth.

The town is tiny but somehow has everything you need! Several fantastic restaurants are steps away, including the Parkside Bakery, Cafe, Snackbar, and Restaurant. Roll out of bed to a latte and fresh pastry. A little market is just a block away where you'll find a good selection of groceries, wine, beer, and other basic sundries. A book store, library, surf shop, and a few more restaurants round out the village. On the beach, just a few minutes stroll away is the Siren restaurant - the best fish tacos in town. The kitchen is lovely and ready for you to cook, but also know that you can get any meal you need with very little effort. You won't need to use your car at all.

While time at the glorious beach can occupy your whole visit, just know that the trails of Mt Tam are just steps away! The hiking is fantastic, as it doesn't take long to climb up to some extraordinary views. The Steep Ravine Cottage is named after the trail of the same name. The Dipsea and Matt Davis trails are equally superb.

We are a family of four and we live just over the mountain from Stinson Beach. For decades now Stinson has been our #1 place to play. Like our absolute favorite place to go in any season. Our souls are happy out there. We've dreamed for years of buying a place in Stinson, but honestly never thought it would be in the cards given the real estate market. In June 2019, the stars aligned and we were able to buy the Cottages at Stinson Beach, which was then set up as a set of long term rentals. It was truly a dream come true, like in a pinching ourselves, mouths wide open kind of way. We've spent the last half-year fixing and replacing nearly every system on the property, a labor of head-over-heels-love. 1,000 decisions -- big, small, and everything in between. We designed the Cottages with an eye towards all the things we love to do in Stinson -- sit with family and friends around a sofa, table, or fire pit; cook great meals together in really lovely kitchens; take long lingering baths while gazing at the stars; and of course, immerse in all of the magic that is Stinson Beach. It's an extraordinary spot that makes us all breath easy and smile more.
