Come and stay at the Forge. Aukje gives goldsmith workshops in the barn of our farm, hence the name. Abbekerk is a dreamy village as you often see here.

Our guesthouse is next to our farm (the house on the left). Brand new, fully sustainable and very spacious.
By car it is 10 minutes to Hoorn and less than half an hour to Amsterdam. We are located on a bicycle route and the local supermarket is within walking distance.
We feel very much at home here and hope you do too

The space
About this space
Our farm was build in 1910. And it has been updated ever since. In the 70ties there was a known vendor of sweets who lived here. His name in still visable in the roof tiles " dirk drop'

We, Aukje en Peter, started to live here in the summer of 2022. Aukje needed more room for her goldsmithing workshops and wanted a big vegetable garden. Peter is a poet and feels at home in this area because there is where he originates from.

The guesthouse has a fully equipped kitchen, a stylish bathroom and a spacious living area.

You will also have your own garden. There is picnic table in the orchard next to the guesthouse. A BBQ is available for a lovely summer evening.

Your stay in our guesthouse includes towels, bedlinnen, toiletpaper, shampoo etc. In the kitchen you will also find the basic things you'll need. A stove, oven and microwave, coffee, tea, dishwash liquid etc.

On the top floor we added another two bedrooms. 1 with a double bed and 1 bedroom with two single beds.

Neighborhood highlights

Abbekerk is one of many historic villages in this area. In medieval times it used to be a city and that is why there still is a house of justice with a prison... for 1 person :-) Nowadays it's a museum, crime is virtually absent.
The typical farm has a pyramid roof and it's called a stolp, like ours. There are lots of 'stolps' around, like our neighbours.
In this area people know and greet each other. They are always willing to lend a hand whenever needed. We have a folder with lots of options on what to see and do; like shrimpfishing and walks in nature. On a rainy day there will always be room to do some smithing :-)
