Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Climb aboard back to 1956! This DC-6 air freighter spent its life flying the skies of Alaska, hauling critical frieght and fuel to remote villages around the state.
Now you can climb aboard for one last flight and stay in this 2 bedroom, 1 bath airplane house with full kitchen, living room, and cockpit!

The DC-6 airplane house is located alongside our private airstrip (1,700ft long) and has plenty of room for your car, truck, and bushplane parking.

The space
You'll climb aboard up a flight of stairs to the Mud Room that gives you access to your airplane home via the aft Cargo loading door. You'll find your washer and dryer there and a hallway to access the Master Suite, full bathroom, and guest bedroom, as well as the Kitchen moving forward, living area, dining room, and Cockpit.

We're about 10 mins from restaurants and grocery stores, 15-20 minutes from "the city".
The property has trails for walking in the summer and cross country skiing in the winter. We connect to a large network of snow machine trails around Big Lake.
You can go ice fishing, dog sledding, and snow machining all within minutes of the property.

In the summer we offer air tours, glacier tours, bear tours, and fishing all direct from the property.
Ask your host if you have any more questions about things to do on your trip!

The property is easy to access from the main road even in winter. Roads are paved and snow plowed, and it is about an hour drive to downtown Anchorage.

Guest access
You'll have full access to the airplane, wing deck, cockpit and all parts of the aircraft. Please note this was a flying cargo plane for over 50 years. It was designed to fly cargo, not to have babies crawl around on the floor. Please keep an eye on your children as many of the parts and systems of the original aircraft that were preserved can be dangerous if misused. There are still sharp edges and parts of equipment we left for guests to enjoy responsibly and carefully.

Other things to note
This is a real airplane that has flown around the world for many years. It has been meticulously gone over to ensure it is comfortable and safe for all of our guests. That being said, common sense is still required when walking around the outside of the aircraft and poking your head into all the compartments you do not normally have access to as a passenger. Please be safe, watch out for sharp edges, and realize that while you are welcome to explore and put your hands on all parts of the airplane inside and out, there are many parts and pieces of the airplane that still can hurt you if you do not know what you are doing. There is a $50 per guest fee for more than two guests.

There are tons of activities to do within a short drive or short bush plane flight of the property including, ice fishing, glacier tours, paddleboarding, snow machining, dog sleds, kayaking, bear tours, fishing charters, etc. Ask your host about all of the options to book out an EPIC experience!
