Escape! Be refreshed at Country Acres Retreat on the former Country Acres Strawberry Farm. Wake up with nature and a cup of hot coffee as the mist ascends over the water. Listen to the whisper of the summer breeze among the pine trees as they carry your cares away! Perfectly suited for a reunion of old & new friends, a family gathering, or a romantic getaway!

The board & batten siding and the trim boards in the cabin come from trees on the farm. The Great Room features rustic native sugar maple hardwood flooring. The “tap holes” are still visible from where the trees were tapped to make maple syrup. The dining room table was built from reclaimed planks from my great grandfather’s sawmill.
This eloquent cabin at Country Acres was built by my father and the family to be a retreat for his children when they returned home. History has been created in the memories of thousands of visitors who have either picked strawberries on the farm or stayed in the cabin over the years. My father was a high school science and biology teacher and the pastor of a local Mennonite church.
We were recently blessed to be able to purchase this property from my 88-year-old mother, Ida. She has dedicated her life not only to her family, but also to Habitat for Humanity and to Hospice. We have always felt that this place is too beautiful for just one family to enjoy! Our desire is to continue my parent’s legacy by sharing this peaceful haven with our guests, family, and friends.
Our home is situated a few hundred yards across the meadow. There we have the Butterfly Suite which sleeps 6 and the Board Room that sleeps 9. The 3 spaces can be rented together and will sleep a total of 27 people. On the property is a pavilion that can be rented as a large gathering space for a family reunion.

Guest access
Guests have exclusive use of the cabin, deck, patio, and the firepit just below the cabin. The other outdoor areas are shared. Occasionally other guests or family may walk by, fish, or swim in the pond. There is a pavilion that is rented on occasion for family reunions, church events, weddings, etc. We permit our guests staying at the cabin to also rent/block out the pavilion for a reduced fee to ensure that no other events will take place while you are here. Inquire before making the reservation to be sure this is possible for your stay. Weddings are not permitted without also booking the cabin for the same dates. Inquire for pricing if interested in having a wedding on the property.

Lives in Accident, Maryland
I grew up in Accident, MD on what was the former strawberry farm and I am the 2nd of nine children. In 1995 I moved to Nashville, TN and took a job as a Road Manager/Sound Engineer for many different artists. This took me to all 50 states and about 15 countries. It was in Nashville that I met my wife, Cheryl who was working for the management company of George Strait, Lee Ann Womack, Dierks Bentley, and others. She also went to school for interior design. We got married in 2002 and now have 4 children. After the children came along, I decided I no longer wanted to be on the road all the time, so I got a "real job" in the building industry designing homes. In 2014 we decided to move back to Accident, MD. Cheryl and I designed our new home and we moved in Dec 2017. We both love having guests over and enjoy cooking. Sipping a fresh cup of hot coffee on the front porch while watching the deer and wild turkeys is an enjoyment of ours. Cheryl's parents both moved to the US from Cuba in the 1950's so Cheryl's first language was Spanish. Cheryl grinds her own flour and bakes fresh bread regularly. Her homemade pizzas will rival any pizza shop! One of her passions is to take old furniture or other objects and take her artistic touch to turn them into something new, useful and exciting! She also enjoys oil painting when she gets the opportunity. While I now spend much of my time working from home designing houses, I also mix sound at a local state university where they bring in various national/international artists. Since 1997, I have been the road manager/sound engineer for Grammy winner Bob Carlisle - "Butterfly Kisses". Although he is now “semi-retired”, I still occasionally do a concert with him. Bob would frequently stay in our guest room while we lived in Nashville and he always referred to it as “The Bob Carlisle Suite” . It was his hit song, "Butterfly Kisses" that inspired the name, "Butterfly Suite".
