Or perhaps you want to follow the original coastal route and go island hopping, with or without a bike? For thousands of years, the sea route was the easiest way to travel along the wild and beautiful coast in the north. Today, everything is in place for an unforgettable trip on two or four wheels. It is entirely possible to drive the Kystriksveien in two days, but if you want to experience as much as possible along the way, you should set aside at least five to seven days. Then you will have time to experience the tranquility and the red-painted fishing villages of the Vega Islands, which secured a place on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2004, thanks to the unique tradition of harvesting down from the abandoned eider nests.
At Ureddplassen in Salten, just five minutes from Bestemorhuset, you can enjoy a powerful view of the ocean - and the world's finest public toilet according to The Telegraph. The Arctic Circle, which roughly cuts through Bestemorhuset, also passes through beautiful Rødøy, where you will find, among other things, the popular top destination, Rødøyløva.
