Neighborhood highlights

The apartment is perfectly located between the two villages of Aci Castello and Aci Trezza, just 8 km from Catania, a city rich in history and with an incredible nightlife; 10 minutes from the baroque town of Acireale and 40minutes from Mt. Etna, the tallest active volcano in Europe!

Both villages are located in the most picturesque part of the coast between Catania and Taormina. Travelers who want to immerse themselves in Sicilian daily life will find many sites and activities, as well as boutiques, wine bars, pubs, discos, newsagents, banks, grocery stores, and more.
At the port, it is also possible to rent small motorboats, canoes, and pedal boats.
The coast in this area is rocky but access to the sea is easy, on the coast, there are many beach clubs (bathing establishments) that offer deck chairs and umbrellas for a few euros or the coast has many points to go directly into the sea.

Aci Trezza, a center of an ancient fishing tradition, was founded at the end of the seventeenth century as a maritime port. The town overlooks the Ionian Sea in front of the small archipelago of the Cyclops islands, a site of naturalistic and geological interest, and from the second half of the twentieth century, the village has become a tourist destination. Aci Trezza is also known for being the location where the novel I Malavoglia by Giovanni Verga and the film La Terra Trema by Luchino Visconti were set and filmed, in turn directly inspired the work of the “verista” writer. The Faraglioni or Rocks of the Cyclops are, according to legend, huge pieces of lava rocks that the giant Cyclops with one eye threw at Ulysses from Mt Etna.

Aci Castello is a small fishing village on the Ionian coast of East Sicily with about 19,200 inhabitants. It is one of the nine cities in the area that share the prefix "Aci". This stretch of coast is particularly rich in lemons (therefore often called "Costa del Limone"), agaves, and palms. Aci Castello is particularly known for its black Norman castle in the picturesque square. The view from the castle, built with Mt. Etna lava stones in the second half of the 11th century, is spectacular and is set on a rocky outcrop on the sea. This place has been fortified since Roman times when it hosted the Rocca Saturnia. Destroyed on several occasions, it was rebuilt by Tancredi in 1189. Under the Bourbons, around 1787, the castle was used as a prison. From its top, you can enjoy a splendid view of the Faraglioni and the island of Lachea all the way to Catania and Siracusa. The castle houses a small museum, which collects archaeological and mineral treasures.
