You can camp directly out of your car at this campsite at Tabby's Trees. The campsite is located along the southernmost section of the South Loop trail (see map in photos), easily accessible by car or small camper.
Tabby's Trees property consists of 74 acres of south Georgia forests and woodlands that are free for you to explore with 1.5 miles of trails winding through a variety of ecosystems. Stop by for a peaceful spot to rest for the night or for a weekend commune with nature.

The space
Visit The Neature Preserve to reconnect with nature! Enjoy a secluded campsite with access to 75 acres to explore and ~1.5 miles of trails that wind through a variety of ecosystems. The majority of the property (especially the northern half) is made up of a pine-dominated forest with ~10 acres of pine savanna. All of the campsites are located along The South Loop in a beautiful, biodiverse pine savanna. The overstory trees of the forests and savanna are dominated by loblolly pine and slash pine with a few longleaf pine sprinkled in as well as turkey oak, live oak, laurel oak, and sweetgum. An ephemeral (seasonal) creek runs along the western boundary of the property with an ephemeral wetland to the southwest.

Restoration practices at The Preserve include prescribed fire, timber management, and mechanical habitat improvement (thinning midstory and canopy trees) for the benefit of native wildlife species, plant biodiversity, rare species, ecosystem resilience, and wildfire mitigation.

Search for "The Neature Preserve" on FB and Insta. for more info on the property, photos of local critters & native plants, and progress on habitat restoration & other projects!

Guest access
Guests have access to all 75 acres of Tabby's Trees. We currently have 2 miles of trails with more to come in the future! A georeferenced map is available for download (message me your email address if you would like me to send it to you) which you can use with Avenza (a free mapping/tracking app available for download on Apple or Android) which shows you where the trails are and where you are on the map. You can also track your travels on the app to show where you've been and what has yet to be explored. You can also request to pick up a trail map upon arrival. Please return any hard copies of the property map when you depart (unless you would like to keep it for memorabilia or future use).

The campsite and the surrounding area is a private space, but the woods and trails are shared spaces when multiple campsites are reserved during your stay. I will let you know if that is the case. Usually only one campsite is reserved at a time, so the woods would be yours!

One of my goals for Tabby's Trees is to give people freedom in nature. I wanted to provide a safe space where people can come to commune with nature in their own way, without worry of interruption. Whether you are just stopping through for the night or if would like to come to paint, explore, hike, look for plants, go birding, run, read, cook over a campfire in the woods, write, draw, however you would like to connect with nature, you will find the peace and freedom to be you as you would like to be!

Other things to note
Habitat Restoration:
The ecosystems that make up Tabby's Trees are in the process of being restored back to their historical, natural state. Management strategies include prescribed fire, thinning the overstory of loblolly and slash pine, and planting longleaf pine. The goal is to restore the forested area to a longleaf-dominated pine savanna. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have about prescribed fire, pine savanna restoration, native/invasive plants, birds, wildlife, or anything that your curiosity conjures! I'm always happy to chat about habitat restoration, healthy southeastern ecosystems and the critters that call them home :]
