A charming two storey family holiday home with direct beach access immediately outside our gate and views overlooking Bass Strait and Cape Woolamai nature reserve. The property boasts a fully enclosed, established private garden with a timber children’s playground, multiple entertaining areas both indoors and out and is a carefully considered space of relaxation and delight for up to 8 guests.

The space
Cape Cabin is an original mud brick + timber A-frame home set in a quiet residential pocket of a wild and rugged coastal nature reserve...
A carefully considered space of relaxation and delight for up to 8 guests but equally as nice as a cosy escape for 4.
Our established native garden is a haven for birds, wildlife and nature lovers all year round and we regularly see wallabies, sea eagles, rainbow lorikeets and echidnas from the vantage point of our upstairs lounge and deck. Regardless of the size of your group, you will find many quiet nooks throughout the property to sit and relax and listen to the soft chatter of birds in the canopy of large native trees that surround the property.
The house itself is a little bit magical... its handcrafted character and carefully curated mix of old and new give it a sense of space and cosiness in just the right measures. Although it has recently been painted and lovingly refurbished with all the comforts you will need for a relaxing adventure with family and friends, it still retains all of its original rustic whimsy and charm.
Bedding, quality linen and towels are supplied for all guests and the house is fully equipped to comfortably accommodate up to 9 people. As Cape Cabin has been designed as a family retreat, we would prefer to restrict the number of adults to the private bedrooms with Queen sized beds (6) - please contact us to discuss your circumstances if your group exceeds this number of adults. Any approved guests beyond the initial 6 are charged at an additional nightly rate of 50.00 per person.

Neighborhood highlights
Cape Woolamai is a small town and headland at the south eastern tip of Phillip Island in Victoria, Australia - approximately 2 hours drive from Melbourne CBD.
There is a bush track immediately in front of Cape Cabin with stairway access to an impressively wide, spacious beach and some of the best left and right-hand surf breaks in Victoria. Perfect for advanced surfers + bodyboarders, long beach walks, sandcastles and playing in the shallows and rock pools at low tide.
There is a small general store and bottle shop at the end of our street where you can stock up on all of the essentials. There is also a fabulous fresh seafood supplier only a few minutes drive away in Newhaven (Bass Coast Seafoods) and farmers market at the beautiful historic farm on Churchill Island that operates on the 4th Saturday of every month. Our nearest supermarkets are only a short drive away with an IGA in San Remo (5 minutes drive) and large Coles, Woolworth's + Aldi stores in Cowes (15 minutes drive).
If you are anything like our family and friends, you will be reluctant to leave the privacy and comforts of Cape Cabin however there is no shortage of things to do in the area. Some of the more interesting options include - Loch Brewery + Gin Distillery, Bassine Specialty Cheeses, The evening Penguin Parade at Summerland Beach, the Koala Conservation Centre and the Nobbies Centre where you can take an interactive virtual journey to Antarctica or stroll along the boardwalks of Seal Rocks.
Our favourite local coffee and food haunts are -
Waterboy cafe and Mendls coffee in Cowes, The Shed, Ventnor and The Kilkunda General Store. Our family also love the fish and chips at San Remo Fishermans Co-op and Tides of Ryhll.
