The space
Immerse yourself in the glamour of la Belle Époque (the "Beautiful Age") in this gracious historic home, thoughtfully updated with modern conveniences, comfortable furnishings, and reflecting a century of design. Inspired by our own travels to wonderful places around the world, we aim to make the “Cambridge Cosmo” luxurious, memorable, and welcoming.
Along with grand living areas and an expansive and well-equipped chef’s kitchen, the Cosmo's 4+ spacious bedrooms include two king rooms, a queen room, a room with two single (twin) beds, and a study with a daybed and trundle, as well as 3.5 bathrooms. Ideal for visiting professionals, academics, colleagues, and families.
We will consider hosting small events such as small dinner parties, retreats, or mini conferences: please note that these events require prior permission from the hosts.
THE ROOMS:
1st floor: living rooms
10 foot ceilings: historic entry hall; elegant living room with 55" smart tv; grand dining room with mahogany table seating 10; large eat-in kitchen with induction stove, quartz counters, coffee bar, bay window and breakfast table; powder room.
2nd floor: two very large en suite bedrooms + bonus study / den
PRIMARY: palatial king suite with a library bay; adjoining study / den with desk, 55" smart tv, twin daybed and trundle; and full bathroom
EAST: gracious queen suite with a walk in closet with stained glass window, whimsical “butterfly” desk, and full bathroom
3rd floor: two spacious bedrooms form a third suite sharing a full bathroom (shower only, no tub)
SOUTH: stately king bedroom with a desk and delightful dressing room
NORTH: charming twin bedroom with two single beds and a desk
Additional smaller TVs suitable for bedrooms / working are available if needed.
The kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped, with Viking cookware, Henckels knives, roasting pan, rice cooker, induction wok, blender, food processor, basic baking supplies, Nespresso, Keurig, French press, drip coffee maker with grinder, electric kettle, toaster, and generous supplies of glassware, dinnerware, and cutlery. We aim to provide many items you may need, and are a short walk (4 blocks) to two supermarkets.

Guest access
The Cambridge Cosmopolitan is on the first, second, and third floor of the original wing of the mansion.
(The basement is part of your hosts’ space).
Parking is available if requested in advance of your stay.
Guests are welcome to use the front garden which is visible from the street; please respect your hosts’ privacy and do not enter areas reserved for hosts’ use (in the back & down the driveway).
Laundry is located in the basement. Guests are welcome to use the laundry - please contact us for permission to enter our space.
Standard check in time is 4 pm. Depending on the timing of your booking, same day reservations may require an additional 2 to 4 hour lead time to ensure the property is ready for check in.
Note: This is a SMOKE-FREE property - absolutely no smoking or vaping allowed.

The Cambridge Cosmopolitan is a licensed short term rental, in compliance with local law + mandated fire & safety inspections.
Welcome to our home! As required by Cambridge laws, your hosts live on the property and may be at home in the adjacent wing. The wings are self-contained, have separate entrances and are thoughtfully oriented to provide peace and privacy, giving a single family feel.
Perfect location:
Short walk to Harvard Yard, Lesley, Porter, Harvard Square; convenient for the Charles River, Kendall Square, MIT, Davis Square, Tufts, Boston hospitals, downtown Boston and more. Superb transportation access: red line T subway, commuter rail, bus, blue bikes, ZipCar, Mass Ave, usually very short waits for rideshares.
Cambridge is great for car-free life (walk score 96); please let us know at the time of booking if you need parking.
Accessibility, age, allergies:
This historic home has steep stairs, high ceilings, an open stairwell, and upper windows overlooking lower roofs. It is not childproofed so is best suited to sensible people over 6 years old and is not ideal for people with limited mobility nor for risk takers of any age.
We aim to provide an allergy-friendly home; due to our own health concerns we allow absolutely no smoking or vaping anywhere on the property or surrounding grounds and cannot accommodate animals.
Safety and security:
This property is actively monitored with a central alarm system, video doorbell, exterior security lights / cameras and security cameras in the hosts’ areas. For added security when the home is vacant, there is a plainly visible camera in the entry hall facing the front door. This is deactivated, completely blocked, and placed in a box during guest stays - a privacy cover (physical box) is provided to ensure guest privacy.
House rules:
Please review and sign our house rules in a timely manner.
The guest making the reservation must review and sign the house rules during the fully refundable cancellation window.
For insurance reasons, prior to check in, you must provide the host with the full names of all adult guests and the ages of any children, and all adult guests are required to sign a copy of the house rules.
Check in will not be permitted if house rules have not been signed by all adult guests; host reserves the right to cancel your reservation (in line with our cancellation / refund policy) if you do not sign the house rules as required.
Any issues must be immediately reported to the host, enabling host sufficient time to address reasonable concerns. Determination of appropriate resolution for any issues shall be at host’s discretion; no refunds will be granted for unverifiable, minor, or spurious issues, or for issues that were not immediately reported to host as per this policy.
A deposit may be required.

No unauthorized commercial use, filming, parties, or events are permitted at this property. Please contact the host if you wish to request authorization for such activities.

The Cambridge Cosmopolitan has been thoughtfully renovated to ensure convenience, style, and comfort - from crystal chandeliers to comfortable beds, luxurious linens, original moldings, gracious furnishings, work essentials, smart TVs, many amenities, a fully equipped modern kitchen and a coffee bar.
All bedrooms have soft cotton sheets, blackout shades, desks, chairs, and, in summer, Midea U (quiet heat pump) air conditioners.
Bathrooms have luxurious Turkish peshtemal towels, rain showers in en suite bathrooms.
Amenities include hair dryers, iron, garment steamer, yoga mat, fans, and space heater.
Large well-equipped kitchen with induction stove, Viking cookware, extensive glassware, baking essentials, rice cooker, induction wok, breakfast bay, and multiple coffee / tea options (Keurig, Nespresso, French press, grind and brew coffee maker, electric kettle)
Two 55 inch smart TVs in the living room and den are set up in guest mode so that you can log in to your own streaming services or choose from Roku channels. Additional small tvs suitable for a bedroom are available on request.
Work facilities include fast wifi, white board available on request, HP Envy printer (please provide your own ink if needed)
Access to guest laundry facilities is available on request (this property’s washer and dryer are in the basement utility room, which is part of your hosts’ space)
We provide some toys and books for younger guests and can provide a Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair, step stools, etc as needed.
