Guests find it magical here

A recent guest called the space magical, highlighting the cozy comforts and the surrounding land
The forest is for rest. Sink into tree time.

Tucked away in the roots of amazing trees, the Bunny Burrow is a private garden suite with separate entrance, fireplace, and beautiful views. Cozy up inside and sleep among roots of the trees where your dreams are supported by ancient knowing.

Slow down to notice the new buds about to open and to listen to the robin's song. When you embody stillness, what will you notice? What will the trees tell your heart?

The space
The 4 Trees Sanctuary, located in the beautiful PNW on Bainbridge Island, offers a tranquil sanctuary for solo retreats. Our experiences cater to those seeking silence and reflection. Surrounded by four beautiful trees in the four cardinal directions, experience peace and rejuvenation. Retreats at 4 Trees Sanctuary are rooted in 4 core values: Safety, Hope, Awakening, and Flow.

French doors open into the mature gardens surrounded by the forest where you can wander out to greet the trees and meet the fresh blooms all around you. Meandering pathways lead to rhododendrons, hydrangeas, massive boulders, and ferns. Landscaping and the pond with flowing stream were designed by John Van den Meerendonk, former Bloedel Reserve Director of Horticulture & Design.

You might even make some new friends. Deer and bunnies frequent the gardens. The pond has frequent visitors, including small song birds, squirrels, and owls. Sit by the pond to watch the woodland creatures and find your own special sit spot or favorite tree friend.

Notice the cherry blossoms in early spring, and mature fruit trees in the summer. Autumn shows off with an amazing display of foliage color from the Japanese maple, as well as giant leaves from broadleaf maple. You can also walk our Winter Solstice spiral, which is built each year with gifts from the trees.

Guest access
Guests are greeted, given a tour of 4 Trees Sanctuary, and handed keys upon arrival. Guests have access to the gardens surrounded by forest.

Other things to note
Joy and Elaine invite you to experience a sacred retreat at the 4 Trees Sanctuary.

We live in the forest next to the Salish Sea; so we have lots of neighbors: owls, eagles, coyotes, deer, birds, frogs, slugs, and of course bunnies. You may also hear through the trees the harbor seals and our human neighbors raise chickens, horses, and donkeys.

My work: sound+forest therapy
Hosted by two queer, tree-hugging, introverts who love sharing the healing energy of the forest. Family has described my wife and I as "monks living in the woods." We'd love to share this deeply rooted yet flowing peace with you. In my private practice I combine trauma healing practices with sound and forest therapy. These practices lead people out of the perpetual stress response to reconnect with the details of the senses and return to clarity, centered self, and vibrancy.
