Calm and convenient location

This area is easy to get around.
This East Chop cottage is for adults seeking quiet relaxation in the charm of an historic home. It’s for lovers of special old places with corners and crevices.

We welcome reservations only from guests with 5-star reviews. Users without reviews, or with negative reviews, will be declined.

The space
The house is in the East Chop neighborhood of Oak Bluffs, a short walk to the beach, and a 15-minute walk to the ferries and Circuit Avenue.

Though East Chop is typically a quiet and respectful area, our proximity to other cottages and downtown Oak Bluffs comes with the understanding that guests will hear neighborhood and boat/harbor noise, particularly in the summer.

The wraparound porch overlooks Wesley Park, which is public (i.e. it’s not our lawn) and runs the length of the avenue. The formal gardens and side yard are our property.

First Floor: A well-stocked kitchen, dining room, family room with streaming services, a formal sitting room with a board game area (that can also serve as an office space), a full bath, and laundry. The wraparound porch has ample seating, hammocks, and an outdoor dining area. A small rear side deck hosts the grill space and outdoor shower.

Second floor: Three bedrooms and a second full bath. All bedrooms are private (i.e. no “pass-through” rooms). There are two narrow staircases with handrails to access the second floor. The primary bedroom has a private deck for two overlooking Wesley Park. The primary and middle room access the bathroom via a hallway. The rear queen room does not have direct access to the second floor bathroom, so guests in that room can use the rear stairs to use the first floor bathroom, or must walk through the middle bedroom.

Guest access
The cottage is entirely available for our guests (excluding three private/locked storage closets).

The “driveway” is an easement across Wesley Park, which is all of the public land in front of the house from the road up to the front porch. Anyone has the right to walk through the woods and across the Wesley Park, though this is rare based on our corner location.

Other things to note
Please treat our home like you are friends and family. Damages and/or violations of our rules are taken seriously.

Because of the age and layout of the house, it's not suitable for children and individuals with mobility issues.

We never accept pets.

Our calendar is limited because we use the house for several weeks ourselves, and have regular returning renters for weekly stays in the high season, July–August. We typically do not rent in May or October, and have limited availability in June and September.

The cottage is seasonal, meaning it’s not insulated; water service is turned off November through April.

You will experience insects outside and likely inside; we are fastidiously clean; it’s just that bugs like the house as much as we do!
