Minutes from Wisp Ski Resort & Deep Creek Lake! Come as you are & take a seat at nature’s table under the canopy of stars. Embrace the wooded ambiance and meadow views from the Board Room & living space. Located between I-68 and Deep Creek Lake/Wisp. Our hope is to provide a serene landscape where you can find peace and rest through nature. Our setup works well for business travelers & as an escape to nature in lieu of hotels!

The space
The Board Room is a new ground level, garden flat. It is a 2 Bedroom/1 Bath suite, with a private exterior entrance and parking for 2 to 3 cars. The 2nd bedroom is next to the Living Room with curtains providing privacy from the Living Room. While it is part of our home, it is soundproofed to where normal conversations cannot be heard. You may be able to hear some footsteps. It has central heat and air conditioning.
The Board Room parking is to the left of the house and is shared with the Butterfly Suite – our other guest space which sleeps 6. The Board Room entrance is located on the backside of the house from the main entrance. To access the entrance, you will need to walk past the garden & grass yard to the back exterior of the house. We are enchantedly hidden at the end of a 700’ lane through a carpeted forest of ferns. There is a small table outside the back door that is a great location to have your morning coffee and watch the sun rise and the deer graze in the meadow!
The flat overlooks a 60-acre former strawberry farm where deer and wild turkeys are frequent guests. Feel free to gander at our resident chickens and take a leisurely walk/hike through the woods and our property. Take a seat and enjoy the stars in their nightly splendor while sitting around the firepit. In the summer air you can hear the music of cicadas and crickets strumming their wings and spring peepers in the moonlight. This is one of my favorites!
Although this is newly constructed there is plenty of age & history. Most of the stone used on the premises are from the farm. Some of the hand cut stones used in the landscaping were from the foundation of a (1800’s) school that Ken’s grandfather attended. The headboard of the bed was constructed by Ken & Cheryl from some 140 year-old barn boards.
The master bedroom has a king size bed. The bathroom with a tub/shower is across the hall from the bedroom.
The kitchenette consists of: a refrigerator, toaster oven, waffle maker, single burner induction cooktop, a microwave, electric kettle, drip coffee maker, and a Keurig coffee maker. The kitchen is also equipped with a crockpot, cooking and eating utensils, sugar, salt, basic spices, assorted teas, a few K-Cups, etc.
This is a perfect yet affordable location for a peaceful retreat in the country or for a family ski/lake weekend. It also works great for a business traveler looking for a home away from home. We are located near a state forest which makes this a convenient location for hunters.
There is a streaming TV in the Living Room. Free Wireless Internet is available. It is provided by Neubeam (5 MBPS) and will permit some streaming. It is possible to use VPN connections if you must check in for business while on your vacation. We have been told that Comcast will be available here later in the year and at that time we intend to upgrade our internet.
To make the stay of our guests with allergies more pleasant and due to severe animal allergies, this is a NO SMOKING and NO PET property. No animals of any kind will be permitted. Bringing an animal or smoking on the property will result in an automatic forfeiture of the entire damage deposit.

Guest access
Guests have exclusive use of the Board Room. In the event of a power outage or other emergencies, the host may need access to the mechanical room and the electrical panels. There are two parking spaces designated for our guests. Outdoor areas are shared.

Other things to note
This is also a smoke free and illegal drug free property. Because of severe allergies, we also have a no pet policy.

Foxtown Road is a scenic country road with very light traffic. It is favored by many bike enthusiasts and runners. The Garrett County Gran Fondo 100+ mile bike race is marked by the end of our driveway as do other bike races. We are situated at the edge of the former Country Acres Strawberry Farm where Ken grew up and was part owner. We also own a cabin a few hundred yards away that sleeps 12 so extended family and friends can stay nearby but retire in their own private space. There is a mowed grassy walking path that extends to the pond. You are welcome to walk over to the pond but we also ask that you respect the privacy of those guests and do not enter the cabin.

Lives in Accident, Maryland
I grew up in Accident, MD on what was the former strawberry farm and I am the 2nd of nine children. In 1995 I moved to Nashville, TN and took a job as a Road Manager/Sound Engineer for many different artists. This took me to all 50 states and about 15 countries. It was in Nashville that I met my wife, Cheryl who was working for the management company of George Strait, Lee Ann Womack, Dierks Bentley, and others. She also went to school for interior design. We got married in 2002 and now have 4 children. After the children came along, I decided I no longer wanted to be on the road all the time, so I got a "real job" in the building industry designing homes. In 2014 we decided to move back to Accident, MD. Cheryl and I designed our new home and we moved in Dec 2017. We both love having guests over and enjoy cooking. Sipping a fresh cup of hot coffee on the front porch while watching the deer and wild turkeys is an enjoyment of ours. Cheryl's parents both moved to the US from Cuba in the 1950's so Cheryl's first language was Spanish. Cheryl grinds her own flour and bakes fresh bread regularly. Her homemade pizzas will rival any pizza shop! One of her passions is to take old furniture or other objects and take her artistic touch to turn them into something new, useful and exciting! She also enjoys oil painting when she gets the opportunity. While I now spend much of my time working from home designing houses, I also mix sound at a local state university where they bring in various national/international artists. Since 1997, I have been the road manager/sound engineer for Grammy winner Bob Carlisle - "Butterfly Kisses". Although he is now “semi-retired”, I still occasionally do a concert with him. Bob would frequently stay in our guest room while we lived in Nashville and he always referred to it as “The Bob Carlisle Suite” . It was his hit song, "Butterfly Kisses" that inspired the name, "Butterfly Suite".
