Accessible only by 4WD, you'll experience sand driving, coastal charm, local wild horse sightings and easy beach access. This 5 bd/4.5 bath home sleeps 14 and features stunning ocean views, 2-master suites w/private baths & decks, private saltwater pool/hot tub, open kitchen-dining-living layout & game room for quality family time. We provide beach gear, fresh linens, gas grill, & Wi-Fi/Smart TVs.
The space
Newly built in 2022, our well-equipped beach home features 3 levels with 5 bedrooms, 4 ½ bathrooms, multiple decks for both sunrises/sets, easy beach access (2-3 min walk in either direction), saltwater pool, hot tub, game room, and panoramic ocean views from the kitchen and main living areas. The house sleeps up to 14 guests, with two king master suites each with private bath, walk-in shower and private deck. Up to 2 dogs are permitted with a pet fee.
Amenities and key points include:
A large saltwater pool, hot tub, outdoor shower, gas grille, sea kayak, beach chairs and assorted gear, game room with pool table and shuffleboard, and assorted games and puzzles. Carova is an off-pavement experience and home to wild “Banker” horses of Corolla, who roam freely and visit the house regularly.
Floor by floor:
The top/3rd level offers a primary king master suite and main living areas, including an open fully stocked kitchen and great room with vaulted ceilings, living and dining areas, and half-bath on the landing area as you head downstairs. Enjoy decks on the east and west sides for both ocean and sunset views.
The second/middle level provides the main entryway from the front porch and offers 3 bedrooms, including a 2nd king master suite with private bathroom, a queen bedroom, and a bunk room with 5 beds. The queen and bunk rooms share a full bathroom off the hallway. The laundry is also located on this floor.
The lower/1st level includes a game room with a 6’ pool table, shuffleboard, and queen sofa bed, as well as a 5th bedroom with 2 queen beds and a full bath accessible directly from both the bedroom and game room. This level also provides exits to the pool, hot tub and outside areas.
We are located in the Northern OBX of NC. Norfolk, VA is the closest airport, approximately 108 miles by car. Map view shows 2 miles to VA border, but the property is only accessible via Rt 12N.
Airbnb has updated their pricing model which means guests no longer pay extra service fees. The new 15% booking fee is now charged to the host, so the price you see is the price you pay.

Entire home and outdoor amenities & spaces. Parking is available in the front driveway area of the property.
Other things to note
Driving on the sand is required and is part of the 4x4 beach experience. 4x4 vehicles are a must for driving to Carova.
If you’ve not been to the 4x4 beach before it’s important to air down tires… we typically do 18-20psi and Historic Corolla Park is generally the best spot. Also, we use the app called “Tides Near Me” (location Sandbridge) to check beach tides and plan the beach drive near lower tide. We do recommend getting through Duck as early as you can, traffic gets heavier as the day goes on.
The pavement ends at the end of Route 12N in Corolla. Once you hit the sand at the beach entrance keep moving and especially if sand is thick. GPS may try to reroute you behind the houses, but continue to drive on the beach. Look for the cell tower as a good visual day/night reference near the Carova Fire House at mm21.5. Turn to go over the dune at mm22 then turn on Sandfiddler to arrive at the house.
Off-sand parking and transport to the beach house is available through local vendors for guests without a 4x4.
Beach Parking Permits:
Two county issued beach parking permits are available to use during your stay, if you’re planning to park on the beach. Please remember to leave them at the house before you checkout. The permits are shared with all guests throughout the season.
Pet Friendly:
Up to 2 dogs are welcome! Pet fee is $250.
Technical:
Wi-Fi is available on every level, with a Smart TV in the great room, 3rd floor master and 1st floor game room. A Bluetooth speaker is provided in the 3rd floor great room. Reliable cell service is available via a nearby cell tower at the Carova Fire Station.
