The space
Welcome to our slice of paradise, otherwise known as Bark’nb Happy! Located just .1 mile (3 minutes walk) from Oak Island’s beautiful family and pet-friendly beaches, our open floor home offers 2 bedrooms(one with a king bed, one with a queen bed), 1 ½ bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and an office space with an additional twin-sized pull-out couch. Best of all (if you can’t tell from our name), our home is very dog friendly — in fact, Bark’nb Happy came to fruition because of our deep love for our dogs. We believe that furry family members deserve to come on vacation and have a blast too!

We here at Bark,nb Happy have done all to keep the rental cost low, and this also includes not to provide bed linens and towels, so please bring your own.

Bark’nb Happy was designed with our four-legged guests at top of mind; there are hardwood/tile floors throughout the home, crates and baby gates provided, and a spacious upper back deck that opens to a fully fenced-in yard. Dogs are allowed in the furniture; however, we do ask that you cover the sofas and pillows with sheets or blankets. If you do not bring these extra covers with you, we can provide a set for a fee - please let us know at time of booking.

Don’t worry if your dog just can’t do his business without something to aim at — we got him covered! Our backyard has plenty of grass and is complete with a bright red fire hydrant! With tons of room to romp, play, and do their business, your pups will love relaxing in the yard as much as they will hitting the beach.

We didn’t forget about our human guests either! Catch the sunrise with a warm cup of coffee, easing into your morning from the porch’s rocking chairs. Did we mention we have an outdoor shower too? There’s nothing better than rinsing off after a long day at the beach! The outdoor shower will be closed from early December until there's no longer risk of freezing temperatures, to avoid damage to the plumbing connections. While Oak Island has plenty of restaurants to check out, our kitchen has everything you need to enjoy a home cooked meal. End your nights enjoying the backyard with the pups, playing corn hole, and gathering around the fire pit.

Oak Island is arguably the most dog-friendly beach in North Carolina – maybe on the whole east coast - and allows dogs on the beach year-round. Many guests find that their favorite time to visit is during the cooler and less crowded months. While dogs are allowed on the beach year-round, they can be unleashed and enjoy the beach to their fullest extent between October 15 and March 15.

If your pup loves to be social, the Hannon A. Templeton dog park is located within a block of the home on 41st NE street. This specialist fenced-in play area has plenty of trees coverage which provides a nice cool down on hot summer days.

Whether your pups prefer to splash in the waves and dig in the sand, sunbathe in the backyard, or simply snooze the day away on the couch in the sweet A/C, Bark’nb Happy has everything your family needs for the paw-fect vacation at Oak Island.

Finally, while we ensure thorough cleaning between guests, Bark’nb Happy is not well suited for those allergic to dogs.

Other things to note
Guests will self check-in with door code upon arrival. An access code will be provided no later than 24 hours before check-in time.
Smoking is stricktly prohibited indoors. If the guests have been smoking indoors, they will be issued a $500 fine to cover deep cleaning and sanitation of the property.
Dogs MUST be registered prior to arrival, and a pet fee of $130 for the first 2 dogs and $30 for each additional dog, MUST have been paid no later than 3 days before check-in. Any amount above 4 dogs, must be pre-approved by host.
A list of how many dogs, their age and breed must be sent to the host right after booking is confirmed
Although we allow dogs in the furniture, we ask that you bring cover sheets/blankets.
If dogs are found present without pre-registration, an $200 fine will be issued.
While we do provide pillows, comforters and bedspreads for all beds at the house ( 1 king bed, 1 queen bed and 1 pull out twin bed), we do ask that you please bring your own bed linens and towels. If you prefer, it can also be rented at:
