Relax in a vintage Airstream! Listen to songbirds, watch deer, foxes & bunnies. Enjoy meals surrounded by nature. Lounge on a patio sofa. Explore our gently maintained woodland trails & farm path and don't miss the brilliant sunrises and sunsets.
Loblolly Landing is just outside of Salisbury at the end of a closed road by the airport. Nestled in five acres of mixed pines, this rustic hideaway is a perfect blend of seclusion and convenience while being only five minutes from major highways.
The space
Inside the vintage Airstream are all the latest amenities, including a smart tv. Relax on the new full size sofa with recliners at each end. Cook to your hearts content in the kitchen with a gas cooktop, oven, air fryer and microwave. There's even a KitchenAid stand mixer with a variety of bakeware for making sweet treats or more elaborate meals.
You'll also find all the standard amenities; a full bath, heat and A/C, as well as separate bedroom with queen bed and small closet. The shower has been customized for dual purpose. When not actually showering, an inside rack system with specialty hangers creates much needed additional closet space. Simply remove your hanging clothing and in 30 seconds you're ready to soap up!
Outside, lounge on a sectional patio sofa under soft string lighting. Grill steaks on the indoor/outdoor electric grill top, and enjoy meals at the picnic table under the trees. Snuggle up by the ambiance of a faux "fire" in the cutest little chimenea. Make drinks at the R&R Bar (Rise & Relax); set up for coffee by day and cocktails at night! All the barware & tools you need to make the perfect drinks are there. For breakfast you'll find a Mr. Coffee dual hot/cold single cup coffee maker, De'Longhi espresso machine & toaster, as well as a proper kettle.
The site is overall private. There are no other rentals on the property.
Guest access
Airstream SBY is tucked back off our driveway amongst the trees. The surrounding woods are yours alone with plenty of room to peacefully & privately lounge around. You're also welcomed to explore the rest of the forest as well as spend time on the woodland trails and farmland path throughout the property.
We'd appreciate if you steer clear of our yard and please do not come into the fenced area surrounding the house! Inside the fenced perimeter is the domain of our dogs & they take their job as protectors very seriously, so you may not be well received if you enter unannounced. We will gladly meet you outside the fence. :-)
Other things to note
BUGS: There will be bugs! Campsite & trails are treated for insects weekly (or more) with heavy duty stuff during warm weather and as needed otherwise. We have Zevo traps inside & also use organic treatment inside between guests. Unfortunately, we make no promises that you won't encounter some things outside and/or inside that might give you a touch of the heebie-jeebies. Because let's face it, you'll be camping in the woods. Bugs are a part of that - it's just the part no one likes to talk about. We do our best, but the reality is there's no eradicating ticks, mosquitoes, flies, gnats and all the rest of the little buggers, no matter how hard we try or how much chemical we put down. So please, be prepared to squish as needed.
PETS: Considered on a case-by-case basis and require pre-approval. Message us prior to booking. Small dogs only, no puppies. Must be freshly bathed with proof of flea & tick treatment. May not be left unattended inside or out. Off leash allowed only for those reliably recall trained. If you aren't sure if that applies to your dog, it doesn't. In 2-3 seconds a pup can disappear deep into the woods. You don't want that & neither do we. Also, you are responsible for keeping your dog from engaging with ours should we cross paths & for most, that's much easier on leash. Lastly, you are financially responsible for double the cost of any pet damage caused during the stay and we take before/after photos.
AIRPORT: Our neighbor is the Salisbury Regional Airport and the closed road out front is a primo place for plane spotting. Light air traffic is part of normal life here and doesn't spook the wildlife. Likewise, most people are not negatively impacted and find seeing the various planes quite exciting. However, if you are highly noise sensitive you might not love it so please take this into consideration before booking.
PLANE SPOTTING: A couple of times a week various large military aircraft from PAX River perform short maneuvering sessions during the day. It's an excellent opportunity to witness some really cool things that most people only ever see in movies. Ospreys, Hawkeyes, Hercules and Blackhawks are some of the regulars, but on rare occasions Stealth Fighters, Sea Stallions, and even the VC-25 that we all know as Air Force One make appearances. We never know what will show up or exactly when, but you'll definitely know when they're here. And when you hear them we encourage you to hustle down the driveway for the best view and enjoy the show!
SECURITY: There are cameras outside throughout the property for your protection and ours. There are no cameras inside the Airstream or directed at the camp area.
INTERNET: It's spotty. Your best bet is to use your own hotspot. Most cell plans offer an add on for $5-10. Verizon provides the fastest & most reliable signal on our property. That's relatively speaking, so we suggest keeping your expectations moderate to low since even the best Eastern Shore speeds are not comparable to cities (or pretty much anywhere else in the modern developed world). HOWEVER: On arrival we'll provide you with our Starlink wifi access login, but don't get too excited. Because just like with the bugs - we make no promises. Our beloved trees have a tendency to move about unpredictably, which makes it difficult for Elon to send consistent signal. So the bottom line is, don't count on it.
COOKING: Please don't cook strong smelling food inside! We have set up a dedicated, well appointed, outdoor cooking area directly behind the camper.
Here's why: Vintage campers with carpeted walls & upholstered ceilings such as ours, easily absorb & retain smells. The only remedy for clearing it is open windows for days - which we often don't have between bookings. So as courtesy to other guests, cooking of particularly strong smelling things needs to be outside. Below is a basic list, but please use reasonable judgement when cooking with other particularly pungent ingredients. If you think it might be too much then it probably is.
-Coffee & Espresso Always brew outside at the coffee bar, with EXCEPTION of the Keurig, which may be used inside.
-Anything that requires blackening or searing
-Dishes containing curry, lots of garlic, or other strong seasonings
-Bacon
-Sauerkraut
-Liver
-Cabbage
-Sardines
-Pot Brownies, other edibles, etc.
No campfires or any other open flames, outside or inside.
NO SMOKING OR VAPING inside or anywhere on the property: Please take a stroll out to the closed road.
THE BEST PART: Our vintage Airstream can be quirky and our woodlands are full of strange wonders, so it's not for everyone. If you’re looking to stay at an immaculate pinnacle of perfection, this probably isn't your place. BUT if you're looking for something relaxed and refreshingly different... You found it.
