Other things to note
Welcome to Doc’s Cottages — A Historic Rustic Tahoe Retreat
Nestled directly behind Ceasars Republic Casino (formerly Harveys) on Stateline Avenue, Doc’s Cottages offers a rare blend of rustic charm, rich history, and unbeatable access to everything that makes Lake Tahoe magical.
A Storied Legacy
Established in 1929, four of the original cabins (numbers 2, 4, 7, and 8) remain standing—a testament to the enduring craftsmanship and heritage of the area.
In 1932, Vincent “Doc” Hughes, known affectionately as “Doc” for his service as a medic in WWI, acquired the property. What began as a personal haven for family and friends blossomed into Doc’s Place, a welcoming escape that the community still treasures.
Rustic Comfort Meets Modern Convenience
Each of the eight unique cottages embraces a cozy, cabin-like aesthetic with hardwood details and inviting spaces. Expect amenities tailored for both relaxation and functionality.
Unmatched Location & Access
Just steps from Heavenly Village, the Heavenly Mountain Gondola, and Lakeside Beach, Doc’s Cottages places you right at the center of Tahoe action. Spend your days skiing or hiking the slopes in winter or lounging lakeside in summer—and come home to a peaceful, tucked-away haven.
History in Every Corner
Staying here is more than just lodging—it’s a journey through time. Guests often marvel at how this charming enclave has hosted notable visitors over the decades, including rumored stays by Clark Gable and Carole Lombard.
As a recognized stop (#LP-2) on the Lakeside Park History Trail, your cottage is positioned in one of Tahoe’s oldest and most storied neighborhoods, rich with early 20th-century character and lore.
Why You’ll Love It Here
