Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Essex County

We booked for 3 nights for our family holiday gathering with my daughter who lives in Melrose. Loved the house! Old charm, spacious rooms, nice neighborhood. The fenced in yard was a huge bonus for our two dogs as we didn't have to worry about them being off leash. We had about 6 inches of snow fall one evening and Karen was very prompt in letting me know someone would be by to plow and shovel. I had asked for a late check out and Karen was very accommodating which made it a much smoother departure. I will definitely be a repeat customer! Thank you, Karen & Lou

We had a great time hosting family Thanksgiving here! The location was a perfect proximity to the beach and a quick drive up to Portsmouth. Plenty of space for everyone to sleep comfortably. Would recommend!

Erin’s place felt like our home away from home. We are very familiar with the area as family lives nearby but we needed extra space. Very peaceful in the off season, would definitely rent again!

We had a lovely stay at Lauren’s place! The home has tons of space, a very well-stocked kitchen, and comfortable beds and couches. It’s a great home base for visiting family in the area. We really appreciate Lauren’s helpful communication throughout our stay too.

Wonderful place for our family to celebrate Thanksgiving while visiting Boston! The house is in a very quiet, safe neighborhood and the kids were excited to see wild turkeys walking down the road! Very clean, well stocked for cooking and extremely comfortable beds in all three bedrooms. Thank you for a great stay!

Heather was a great host who was quick to respond with any questions. The house was spacious and clean. Near plenty of good places to eat but secluded enough for peaceful evenings. Would stay again if vacationing in or around Gloucester.

Shawn’s place was perfect for our family of 3. Easy access, well appointed, and super quick to get in to Boston for a convention my husband was attending. Shawn was incredibly responsive when I had questions, and went above and beyond to solve an issue we had with the Wi-Fi during our visit. I would highly recommend staying with Shawn.

My husband and I stayed here 3 nights and had a fantastic time. The space is very cozy and has many little touches that make you feel comfortable and at home, including spare charging cables, spices and cooking oil, labels on light switches, a big closet space, and the heated bathroom floor/fireplace! Parking is easy and right in front of the unit. We had an easy time walking to Davis Square/Red Line from here too. Nancy and Steve were super friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place to friends and family in the future, one of my favorite Airbnbs I've ever stayed at! Thanks again!

We felt right at home at Lisa's. She filled the the unit with so many extra treats! Coffees, teas, snacks, toiletries, etc. We felt like we were visiting a friend or family!

Amazing stay! Easy to check in. The beds were super comfortable and parking was always available on the street. Just a 20 min drive to Boston.

We came in from out of town for a few days and were so pleased with our stay. The house was clean and comfortable. It was very close to the beach and walkable to the center for entertainment and restaurants. We would absolutely book again. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

Our family really enjoyed our long weekend at Donald’s place. The location is great, right in the middle of Marblehead, walkable to old town and the various shops and restaurants that dot the area— a great base for visiting friends and family on the north shore. We’ll definitely look to stay here again if available the next time we’re in the area.

My stay at the Marsh-Mellow, hosted by MaryJane, was phenomenal. From check-in to check-out, the process was simple as MaryJane had clear, detailed instructions on how to enter as well as great recommendations on what to do in the area. I have no hesitation when I recommend this space as your next getaway trip. You will not be disappointed!

We had such a great stay here! The apartment was so comfortable and all of us slept great on the cozy beds. It was a spacious apartment and everything was clean and tidy. We loved the shower too! It was so nice to be only a short walk away from Salem’s historical district and all of the restaurants we wanted to visit. It was perfect for a girl’s weekend! We would totally stay here again!

Christina's property was a wonderful place to escape to for a few days! It is the perfect size for 1-2 people, has everything you need, and the view is unbeatable. The parking space is incredibly convenient and the location of the property provides easy access to the rest of Bearskin Neck and Rockport proper. I hope to stay here again in the future!

We found the place very pleasant, spacious and had such character. Plenty of space for 4. Bed were comfy and warm. No complaints at all. It’s a 4-7min drive to town. Very easy to get to. Definitely recommend for future tenants.

What a wonderful stay! The listing was extremely accurate, the space was actually even more spacious than the photos conveyed. The space was clean, cozy and well decorated. It was easy to find and get in. The host was responsive and friendly! The best aspect of this Airbnb was by far the location - convenient to Salem via Airbnb and walkable to so many great restaurants and scenic views in Marblehead. Would absolutely recommend and hope to come back someday!

Our stay in Gloucester was beyond amazing! A trip we have put off since Covid began but back in June we decided to make it happen! Sarah’s condo was beyond our expectations. Beautifully set up,homey, comfortable and right in the middle of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen. We are from Annapolis, Maryland and I grew up on our bay crabbing … Gloucester reminds me of home. Everyone we met were so friendly, helpful and made sure we were comfortable. I’m a runner of 40 miles a week so my morning runs were filled with so much beauty from colorful leaves, to a sunrise I’ve never seen! Sailing is my thing so being surrounded by water, boats and of course the smell of fish … we knew our trip was extra special! We stayed specifically on Halloween for Salem fun and Salem did not disappoint! Helpful… a bar directly across the street from her air bnb! We hiked to the lighthouse early morning for exercise and its view did not disappoint either! Five star visit!
