You will find in “Casa do Preto”, the pastry shop down the road, many new and delicious Portuguese pastries, try the “queijadas”… delicious! There is also another cozy coffee shop: NATÁLIA in a walking distance. You can also find many restaurants, and nice typical places to eat. Go to Sintra town center: is one of those places full of magic and mystery where nature and man have combined in a symbiosis so perfect that UNESCO has classified it as a World Heritage Site. Exotic gardens, lush parklands with centuries-old trees, fantastically decorated palaces, a Moorish castle, older than Europe, small lakes with nooks and fake ruins in the midst of nature are certainly inspiring for a special moment. Sintra is surely one of the most romantic destinations in Portugal, where kings and queens have fallen in love and Which writers and poets, such as Eça de Queiroz and Lord Byron, have recorded for ever in their works. Things to do in Sintra: Have a coffee with the amazing pastry “travesseiro” in Periquita coffee shop. Visit the palace PALÁCIO DA VILA. Visit the house and gardens of QUINTA DA REGALEIRA. Then go up the mountain to another palace PALÁCIO DA PENA and castle CASTELO DOS MOUROS. Get back in the car and go to CONVENTO DOS CAPUCHOS ancient convent in the mountain, then to PENINHA, and finally to Azóia where you can relax in a bar called BAR DO MOINHO. Nearby you can also visit CABO DA ROCA the most western part of Europe. You could carry up north by the coast and pass a beach called ADRAGA with a great seafood restaurant. 3 km after you will find another great beach PRAIA GRANDE. And finally if you carry on you can stop in a small and cute village by the sea AZENHAS DO MAR. Visit CASCAIS and ESTORIL: The house is only 11 km from the cosmopolitan Cascais, with its marina, entertainment, shopping, beaches, restaurants, coffee shops, delightful esplanades by the sea, not to mention the buzz of a very active nightlife. Estoril, that has the biggest casino in Europe, is only 9 km away. The beach Guincho, in Cascais, with its surrounding natural park, is highly recommended for beach and water sports activities (as windsurf or kitesurf). Along this coast the choice of beaches is endless and white sandy family beaches are only 15 minutes drive away. The closest beaches are Praia Grande, Guincho and Estoril. LISBON: Portugal´s capital is only 20 to 25 minutes away by car. Heading to the old part of Lisbon you can first get to CHIADO, park the car for the day and start by having a Portuguese expresso in BRASILEIRA or BENARD coffee shops (never miss the pastry PASTEL DE NATA!). Up another hill across downtown you can take a TUK TUK TOUR to get you to the castle CASTELO DE SÃO JORGE and the old city MOURARIA. There are plenty of beautiful churches all around the old part of Lisbon. In BAIXA (downtown) enjoy the great square TERREIRO DO PAÇO, have a walk alongside the RIVER TAGUS all the way to CAIS DO SODRÉ train station stopping for lunch at the nearby market MERCADO DA RIBEIRA. Head back home from Lisbon before rush hour, 5pm is a good time. Just pick one! At Azenhas do Mar beach: Sal or Azenhas do Mar (great sunset view). The last one is more expensive. At Praia das Maçãs: Loureiro or O Búzio. At Praia da Adraga: Praia da Adraga At Praia Grande: Bar do Fundo VII. Useful information: HOSPITAL: If you need to see a doctor or if there is a medical emergency go to the nearest public hospital in Cascais, Hospital de Cascais, about 10 minutes away. GPS coordinates: 38.4347.4,-9.2505. PHARMACY: The closest one is near the local Church, 1km away from the house. Open every day. SUPERMARKETS: Open every day between 7am and 12pm. The closest one is Aldi is just a few roundabouts away on the way to Estoril (9am-9pm). Supercor, more down the same road as Aldi’s (9am-10pm). Then follows Continente in Cascaishopping shopping center (8.30am-11pm Monday to Sunday; 8.30am-12pm Friday and Saturday). Pingo Doce is in Portela de Sintra (in front of Casa do Preto, turn left and go down the road. Once passing through a BP gas station, turn right, then turn on the second road left) SHOPS: Plenty of all sorts of shops in Cascaishopping shopping center, Sintra Retail Park on IC19 road, open every day from 10 am to 23 Pm. Villa Santa Maria guest house is only 20 km from Lisbon International Airport and very easily accessible by car through the main road Lisboa-Sintra (IC19). also by train or bus. Your private, self contained two bedroom sanctuary with sun terrace in a quiet Portuguese village. A 10 minute drive away from Sintra's world heritage site and 20 minute drive to some of Europe's famous beaches. When you stay in our Airbnb you are close to local cafes, restaurants and public transport (buses). For ease of travel our recommendation is to have a car. The apartment is located in a very quiet village, with a food store and a cafe. A 5-minute drive away, and a 15-minute walk away, there are several beaches and a wide range of restaurants. It shares a garden plot, orchard, parking, and clothesline area with three other accommodations, but with enough distance to have privacy. In the common areas there is a beautiful and sunny garden with terrace furniture where you can sunbathe, have breakfast, read, etc. The house is newly built with quality materials and is tastefully furnished with good furniture. In relation to cleanliness, it is impeccable. We have stayed here again this year, as it offers us everything we need. This area of Portugal is a gem, offering many things to see and do, and has a proportionate, family-friendly, and quiet tourism. Eugenia and Julia were attentive and quick to respond to any need. It was a pleasure. We'll be back.

Very responsive and friendly host. Easy checkin and our private house was just as described (with very easy parking access). The buffet breakfast was great as was the hot tub at the end of a long day of walking. We got to say hello to the parrots as well. Very charming.

The property met our expectations, Arminda was very accommodating, she kindly offered flexible check-in & out times. The kitchen was decently equipped. The stay was nice and peaceful for my family, will definitely go back the next time around. The only issue we faced was mosquitoes, guess the rain brought them in.

One of a kind airbnb in the beautiful Cintra wilderness with a fabulous host in Vanessa. For the price, this private retreat can’t be beat. Checking in was smooth and not at all a hassle. Vanessa made the entire experience incredibly easy for us and even went above and beyond by suggesting different things to see and do in the area. Would absolutely come back here in a heartbeat and pay double if I had to.

This place is exactly what makes AirBnB great: a really lovely location and super friendly hosts. The place is perfectly suited for 2 people and ideal for surfers too. The apartment has all the amenities you need and I felt right at home. Things are minimalistic in a positive way and intelligently set up. Sao Pedro beach is just a short walk away for surf or to enjoy the sunset at the beach bar or the lovely restaurant. A small super market is just around the corner. Overall, I highly recommend this place and will definitely return.

As soon as we arrived we were warmly welcomed, the house was clean, everything was tidy. The house was as advertised, we had everything we needed. Mr. Alexandre's parents were very attentive and friendly, quickly explained to us the best places to visit, the best restaurants... and we could enjoy it well. Great vacation, thanks!
