We arrived as strangers and left as friends. Angela and Wayne treated us as long held friends in going far beyond what could have been expected of them as hosts. Their rodavel in the big garden was peaceful and we enjoyed swimming in the pool after a hot day out.

This beautiful beautiful home in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands is haven! A peaceful escape in nature, yet close to many shops, restaurants, heritage sites, nature reserves and local crafts. The attention to detail and finishings is tasteful and homey, making your stay comfortable and familiar. We loved the design of Narina's home. Inspired by her travels and her roots in Africa can be clearly seen by the intricate details and decor. Spacious, well equipped and situated a safe and secluded escape where you can enjoy nature walks, taking in the area's breathtaking flora and fauna. Narina and Carol are proactive when it comes to communication and provide detailed information on the house's amenities and activities to do in the area. Having grown up in Howick myself, I thought I had experienced all that my hometown had to offer. The Matophouse brought me back home and inspired me to see my childhood town through new eyes. Thanks for accommodating our family!

We had an amazing week!!! We needed time away where we could just relax and do some activities. The name describes it all!! Kitchen is well equipped and the decor is tasteful!! Rosemary was available at any time and really helpful! We had an awesome time going to the river and enjoying the views and walks around the cottage. Lots to see in the area!

Unique place. We enjoyed our stay. Well furnished and comfortable. Pleasant walks on the farm. Nice and quiet we slept well. The nougat gift was very nice. The place looked clean when we got there and linen and towels were all very nice and clean. In the kitchen though while it looked clean there was oil on the floor and counter tops. It had been wiped but not cleaned. Possible the previous guest had dropped cooking oil we were not sure what had happened . The floor was quite slippery and we had to be very careful. We spoke to the hosts who provided us with cleaning materials and a mop for us to clean it which we did.

We spent 3 days with our family at the Stables cottage and had a wonderful stay. The location is peaceful and the scenery is stunning. Kate also organised dinner on request and we thoroughly enjoyed it esp the vegetarian meal. Our 3 yr old was overjoyed to see horses, goats and dogs on the property. The staff ( Anna, Ruthie and Mbongeni) were super nice and made sure we had a comfortable stay.

This truely is a magical little cottage. Most amazing nature surroundings, our family loved the waterfalls and eagles nesting in the valley. Awesome friendly and warm hearted host Maryna that welcomed us and made sure we were settled and had everything we needed and beyond... her pinics are next level and our family would recommend the experience to all guests. An absolute MUST :) We are staying there again for sure!!

To say we had an amazing stay is an understatement. What an amazing host Lizzi was. Very welcoming, made sure we arrived safely, had everything we needed. Her place is amazing. Beautiful scenery. Definitely worth everything and more. Can't wait to go back again :D

Beautiful spacious Victorian home in quiet road but very well situated for shops and motorway . Perfect for a large family gathering like ours over Christmas The kitchen is well kitted out but does need updating at some broken floor tiles and stained units however everything was clean and there is a lovely large oven and hob perfect for cooking for a large group. We enjoyed the swimming pool and garden and the layout of the house is perfect for entertaining inside or outside. Craig is a very responsive host and the resident housekeeping staff were very helpful and available whenever we needed them We would have loved to stay longer-

An unforgettable stay! This cottage is absolutely stunning, peaceful, surrounded by a beautiful forest, and even better than the photos. The location is breathtaking, with amazing views that we thoroughly enjoyed. Pauline was an incredible host, always in communication and ensuring our stay was perfect. A highlight was seeing the goats on the property and taking walks to the dam, where we tried our hand at fishing. Pauline clearly puts a lot of thought and effort into creating a warm and welcoming experience. We can’t wait to return!
