Family-friendly vacation rentals in Buena Vista

Booked a last minute getaway with a large group of friends. The home was clean and spacious. Nestled perfectly in natures surrounding, every angle of the wraparound porch provided a picturesque backdrop. We had a great stay and would recommend this home. The bedroom/bathroom count provided for great privacy for our large party. We didn’t get a chance to get in the hot tub, but man we wanted to. As mentioned in other reviews, the altitude sickness was real. Every member of our party experienced different symptoms at one point or another. As regular travelers to the mountains, this was odd for the bulk of us. The heater in the home was on and working but struggled to maintain a comfortable temperature. All of the bedrooms were fairly cold at night. Maybe ask for additional blankets if you’re visiting during the frigid months.

This place is well described by the host, beautiful scenery and places to walk to that you can sit and eat at! The host is very friendly and easy to communicate with. I would recommend this air bnb to all of my friends!

Aunt Bea’s was the perfect spot for us on our cross state tour! It truly is a hidden gem, but close enough to walk downtown. We appreciated the wood work in the space! And enjoyed looking through past photos to see the seasonal art. Thank you for a great stay!

Our cabin was beautiful! Our private pool was EPIC. Very clean, natural, and remained at the perfect temperature the entire time. My fiance and I enjoyed the privacy, beautiful scenery, the sound of the river, etc. We even utilized the kitchen and made stuffed mushrooms for dinner! The pellet stove created a calm ambience at night time. We felt the stress melt away...Thankyou 🩷

We booked this space for a long ski weekend and it was perfect for what we needed. Located in the middle of Leadville and convenient to everything nearby. The house was clean and well equipped and the hot tub was a nice way to unwind after a day on the mountain. Would rent again!

We absolutely enjoyed our stay. It is a cozy cabin with great views and plenty of things provided to pass the time. Our animals felt quite comfortable and enjoyed the biscuits left for them. We will definitely be back! Thank you Tina for being so responsive and making our stay so pleasant.

We enjoyed our stay. Will come back again I’m typically not a big reviewer however, I felt that this place needs to be recognized for the quality of communication and the cleanliness of the cabin.

For a house with 10 people there was plenty of room to spread out! We could walk in to town but it was very quiet and peaceful. We had an issue on the first day with the hot tub and Joanne had it fixed the same day, which made the rest of our stay exactly what we wanted! Also, these were some of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in!! Recommendation #1- bring ear plugs! With 3 levels (and no door closing off the top level) you’ll hear people stomping above you if they’re as loud as my family, and #2- seems there’s a limit on the hot water heater for showers. Even though we were mostly couples and jumped in and out, the last couple always had cold water, and the other 2 (not a couple) didn’t shower (but they are kids so…. *shrug*). Plan for that! Would definitely come back!

The Alpaca Airbnb is exactly as described. We had our dogs with us which is always special to share experiences with them. The property is beautiful and we walked around multiple times a day to let the dogs run and play. We also saw the elk herd everyday during our stay. Once, they were even on the property versus across the street. The animals are wonderful and so friendly. We were able to feed them and hang out with them which was such a unique experience. The home is quite cozy and well stocked. There were plenty of supplies and ways to clean up after yourself which is always nice. I wish we had more time to read some of the books in the massive book collection. There were plenty of games to play as well. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time and would love to go back in the warmer months.

First, take a photo of the key code and text to your group. I did not and left my phone in the house. So, yes, I locked us out. Everything was on my phone. My friend sent a message through AirBnB to Wendy explaining what happened. She called her right away and got us back in the house. Phew! The house is a 10-minute walk to downtown Salida, which is so cute. Full of shops, places to each, art galleries, stores for kids, an arcade, etc. One can walk to the grocery too. The house had everything we needed. It is nicely maintained, quiet and comfortable. Our only issue was the one bathroom. We managed with it. If you have a teen who takes forever anytime they in the bathroom, this could be a problem. Plenty of hot water for several showers in a row and lots of towels. Really like having the washer/dryer access even a drying rack. I would stay here again!

Good place to stay. Walking distance to downtown. It’s a pretty easy drive Monarch (about 43 min depending on traffic & how you drive) for skiing too.

The house was very roomy for the 6 people in our group. The master bathroom was especially spacious with a double sink vanity. We were excited to be in walking distance to downtown Salida and the river. We utilized the BBQ grill and enjoyed family time in the backyard area.

We absolutely loved our stay at Millie‘s Place. The neighborhood is charming, quiet beyond belief, and the view of snow capped mountains all around stunning. The house itself makes you feel right at home with rooms that have perfect proportions, large enough to be able to spread out but small enough to be cozy. We very much hope to be able to come back to Buena Vista and if we do we’d love to stay at Millie’s Place again.

We stayed for a long weekend at Kim's place and really enjoyed our time. I don't think I've ever stayed at a location that has been that quiet. The cabin is peaceful and surrounded by trees and 360 degree views of the Collegiate Peaks and surrounding mountain range. Decks off the first and second level afforded incredible views that we didn't want to leave! The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed - plenty of towels and blankets and lots of appreciated little extras. Thank you, Kim!

Rob's home is a perfect home base for a stay in Buena Vista! It is walkable to downtown and close to lots of trails and activities. The large backyard is ideal for dogs!

A beautiful home and a great host. We really enjoyed our time. Lots to do in the area and nice to have a private quiet location so close to town. We will definitely look for another opportunity to come again.

This is a lovely place to stay in BV. We loved the carefully executed decor and enjoyed the personal story of the owners. The location was great for walking in that part of town and it was fun walking the trail by the river. Overall, we thought it one of the nicest places we’ve stayed!

I had the most amazing stay at this Airbnb! From the moment I arrived, everything exceeded my expectations. The host was incredibly welcoming and communicative, ensuring a seamless check-in process. We had a wonderful stay in Leadville! This place was perfect for our family... cozy, comfortable, and so close to the main street fill with restaurants and shops.

This space was everything we needed. The location can not be beat. The rowhouse is warm and inviting, lots of charm.

Great access to Leadville, hiking, lakes, the train, the Mineral Belt trail etc. Genuine Victorian period home with all the charm and quirks that go along with that. Friendly host. We loved being there.
