Cabin vacation rentals in Bedford County

This was a beautiful cabin in the woods!! There was a great vintage feel with many modern amenities!! I loved the fresh eggs and my husband loved cooking on the vintage stove and grilling outside. We enjoyed the horseshoes and frisbee golf after a wonderful hike. We then soaked our aching muscles in the hot tub. We enjoyed eating outside on the porch next to a scenic view with a creek listening to the birds. We did not utilize the fire pit area but we do plan to go back. It is perfectly located nearby to some beautiful hikes and historic Roanoke!!

Ive stayed at this wonderful home many times so I knew it was a treasure. However, the newest owner Gretchen really made this place even better. Clean, cozy, it has everything you need for a perfect moutain getaway. All the little touches and welcoming treats were greatly appreciated and enjoyed. Can't wait to return!

Couldn’t ask for better host, location was great nice secluded area with a lot of farm life roaming. Everything was as described and the host help me set up beautiful flowers and chocolates for when we arrived. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

My kids and I loved going between kayaking, enjoying the hot tub, and relaxing. Lovely spot!

We had a wonderful stay! The views are fantastic and the cabin is peaceful and cozy. There are some nice hiking trails a short drive from the cabin. We would definitely come again!

What a wonderful cozy cabin. Comfy beds, nicely decorated & great amenities. We loved the wood burning stove, that really warmed up the cabin on a chilly rainy day. They had dry wood readily available for use & clear instructions on how to use the stove. The hosts went above & beyond to accommodate us as well as being kind & quick to respond. We will definitely be back for the wonderful view of the James & quality time with our family.

We enjoyed a wonderful long weekend stay at the cabin. The surroundings are beautiful and had we been in the area to enjoy ‘lake life’ this cabin would be a perfect fit. We were in the area to visit some museums in Roanoke and usually stay in hotels, but our dogs tend to bark and that bothers the other guests. As the cabin is dog friendly, we were able to crate them for a little while, while we enjoyed our day. Our host provided plenty of towels for our use, though we were surprised that there were no washcloths provided. When I mentioned this to our host, she said they’d take that recommendation for future guests. I’d also suggest that a box of tissues would be a nice addition (fortunately we had one in the car). But this is nitpicking, really. Bottom line - it’s a beautiful cabin and the surroundings are the same. Any lake loving boater would be right at home. And our host was friendly and communicative.

I had a great last minute getaway here and I agree with the other reviews, it’s so much better than the pictures give it credit for and was so comfortable with everything I needed. It is located adjacent to another property, it’s above the garage although only one or two steps if mobility is a concern for you, it’s very accessible. No one was using the other property so it was great to be alone. I had coffee on the front porch every morning as the deer came to say hi and listened to the beautiful soft (read very quiet) church bells in the distance on Sunday morning and watched as the sun rose over the trees. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Easy access to hikes with my dog we both enjoyed the yard. She would lie in the grass by the fire pit and we watched the sun set after a long day of hiking. I recommend bringing your food as I didn’t see too many restaurants, also I had cell service with both Verizon and T-Mobile. All in all a great place if you’re looking to escape!!

This place was just great. Pulling up the mountain to the cabin we just weren't ready for just how great the view was. Visiting at the end of April, the cabin is a great space to just feel secure while sleeping. We did everything out doors, and regret nothing. I'd love to come back in the Fall/early winter months to experience the inside a bit more, not that we couldn't have, but the outdoor temperatures were perfect, and there were very few bugs to bother us. Everything inside that we needed was situated well and with intention. We very much enjoyed our stay, definitely one of our top experiences for that off grid, self reliance feel.

We had a wonderful stay at this place. The host was great and the place was perfectly described. It was in a neighborhood but was a bit secluded which was nice. It was about 8 minutes to Liberty U so it was easy getting back and forth when we needed to be on campus. Would recommend to anyone needing a place to stay near the campus.

Great location ! Our party stayed here while we kayaked for a few days on the James River! Very clean, well stocked , and all details covered! Even a candy bar bouquet to greet you ! Beautiful scenery & quiet ! Wonderful house ! Highly recommend!

This was our second time staying here. The cabin is beautiful and well maintained! They provided lots of firewood which was wonderful because we had a campfire every day! The kids loved the playground and the creek and want to come back over the summer for swimming in the lake! The linens and beds were great - we brought our own towels which was fine and they did have hand towels in the kitchen and bathrooms. There is nothing around which we loved - very peaceful and relaxing. The stairs going upstairs are steep and curvy so our little one (3) was nervous but the big boys (7 and 9) were fine with it. We plan on coming back!

We had an amazing time staying at Beatrice’s beautiful property! The cabin itself was exactly as described/shown in the photos with everything labeled clearly inside. Beatrice supplied everything you could possibly need for a relaxing getaway and even gave a basket of treats and wine for us! We felt right at home and loved the serenity of the property with the running stream nearby and the wonderful mountain view. Would HIGHLY recommend this listing and look forward to returning in the future. Thanks again for everything Beatrice and Jim! :)

Had a wonderful stay, the area was absolutely stunning and Alicia was very kind, we had some questions about the fishing in the area and she was extremely helpful in giving us some tips! The cabin was so cozy and we definitely plan on coming back for another visit in the warmer months!

Melba's little cabin is amazing. Don't just stay somewhere nice, stay somewhere unique and wonderful! From the custom details in the house to the adorable animals just across the fence (especially the little pig), this cabin was a heartwarming, peaceful experience we'll never forget. Close to great dining, too and of course Smith Mountain Lake. Thank you, Melba and family. We hope to come back.

All I can say is Wow Wow Wow!!! This place was amazing. We felt like we were on top of the world with amazing views all around. The place was a perfect place for us. This has become my all time favorite place we have stayed. I can definitely say we will definitely definitely be back for another stay. I enjoyed walking the property seeing the amazing views enjoying that awesome bathtub. We even got a chance to meet the owner. What a lovely man he is told me about the property how it came about just amazing if you want a awesome place to stay this would be the place if you love the mountains and you love the views of the mountains. This is the place!!! The furniture was very comfortable and the view from the kitchen and the bedroom upstairs looks like a picture that changed daily or by the hour or by the minute.

Beautiful cabin. The pictures don’t even do it justice. Very spacious and super clean. It was so peaceful to sit and enjoy the deck overlooking the lake. We weren’t there long enough and had a wedding to go to but we would have enjoyed the firepit and exploring the area as well. We wish we had stayed longer. We hope to return.

We had a wonderful time staying at The Retreat. It was exactly as described and shown in the pictures. We were there at the being of April. The lake is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. Lannette has been a great host and we would not hesitate to go back again. Her place offered a clean, quiet and comfortable place to stay.

I booked this for a weekend retreat for my boyfriend's birthday and Rocreek cabin was everything we could have hoped for!! The location was secluded, serine and just LOVELY!!! The small details in the cabin were soooo perfect and just added to the experience. I love that she labeled towels for the furbabies and also had bowls for them. Our favorite part was the waterfall out back!! Having the window open above the bed and being able to listen to that while we slept was soooo relaxing!!! I also got Rhonda to bake a cake for my boyfriend's birthday and it was delicious!! $25 well spent and it was waiting in the fridge when we got there. Loved the area, as there was so much to do and see! Hiking sharp top, which was 15 mins away, was AMAZING. We also enjoyed the D-Day Memorial, which was also within 20 mins. Bedford is sooo quaint and cute!! This property and the area is a must see!!! Thank you both for being such AMAZING hosts.
