Ryokan vacation rentals in Agatsuma District

A great stay at such an old and beautiful ryokan. It was the perfect location in Shibu Onsen and the staff were fantastic with providing extra information. The tatami beds were very comfortable, even as a westerner who has had spinal surgery. I would definitely recommend staying here when coming to the Nagano region.

Our stay was beyond what we expected. The host went above and beyond to help us with getting the most out of our trip. This was our first time in Japan. The next time we come to nagano we will definitely be staying here again. 10/10 recommended for people coming to ski and enjoy small ski town vibes.

Shibu Onsen is a lot more than just snow monkeys. Budget at least two days in this lovely ryokan to get the most out of the scenery and lovely little bar next door. Pet the pug for me ❤️ The stay was lovely, the futons were the most comfortable I’ve used in Japan, and the view from the window of the snow covered roofs is one I’ll never forget. Highly recommended.

This is a great hostel! We stayed in one of the private rooms, which, while private, has a shared bathroom. However, we never had any issues finding a bathroom or shower available. The host was fantastic and waited for us to arrive on the day we checked in. The room and accommodation are simple and traditional, so keep this in mind—if you prioritize comfort above all, this might not be the place for you. But if you’re looking for an authentic and traditional experience in Japan, this is a wonderful choice. We initially felt quite cold during the night, but the heater warmed up the room, making it cozy and comfortable. The showers were also great—hot and comfortable. The location is excellent, just 300 meters from the train station to Nagano and 300 meters from the bus station to Snow Monkey Park. From this spot, you only need to pay a 310-yen (~$2) bus ticket per person to reach the park, making it very convenient. This allowed us to skip an expensive tour.
