Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Decorah

We stayed at James’ place for our 25th anniversary and I’m so glad we did. We were hoping for peace, nature, hiking and to be able to include our dogs. The location was perfect - so secluded, yet not far from hiking, restaurants, etc. The cabin was clean and well-appointed, having everything we needed, plus extra items in case you’d forgotten something. I appreciated the easy-going communication and would love to stay again if we get the chance!

We loved our week at Lori’s place. The pool, the hot tub and the massage chair made it easy for us to fully relax and wind down for the week. The kitchen was also well equipped, but we also enjoyed some of the local restaurants as well and they were fabulous as well. The touch of local menus on the welcome pack helped us choose fun local spots. Would absolutely book this location again.

We had a lovely time. The house was very well stocked, Pat was very responsive and helpful. The front and back porches were great for relaxing and conversation. We truly enjoyed our stay. Thumbs up.

Perfect for my family to gather for the annual deer hunt. Always a pleasure staying here.

I loved our stay with Ashley at Paint Creek Place! It was quiet, peaceful and clean! The place was very cozy and allowed us to watch tv, cook, enjoy nature and disconnect! We also brought along our dog who very much enjoyed the creek and the smells along the way. Thank you Ashley! I would stay again :)

Wonderful, cozy cottage. A quiet neighborhood , within walking distance to downtown,a few miles from Luther college, and the local Co-op. The home is clean and comfortable. Everyone in our party said, they enjoyed the home and felt relaxed, safe, and at ease.

Home is set in secluded bluff area of North East Iowa. Very quiet area. Host was very responsive on answering any questions I had regarding this property.

What a perfect girls weekend at Chimney Rock Retreat. Secluded and perched atop a classic Driftless hill, we didn’t leave the property once! We cooked in the well equipped full kitchen, sat on the deck listening to the birds, walked the woods and stayed up all night talking in the cozy living room. We also had two littles in tow and it was such a relief that the house was outfitted with toys and that they could roam the safe, beautiful grounds - far from the road or any hazards. Thank you for a deeply restorative weekend! We plan to return next year.

Place was incredibly clean, cozy, and perfect for a little getaway! Hosts were helpful, friendly, responsive, and gave clear/easy instructions for check-in, the stay, and check-out. We plan on doing a yearly trip here because it was so perfect!

Norma Jean & Daryl are welcoming, kind hosts with an absolutely beautiful property! They were attentive to our safety as there was winter weather and helpful at every turn. My friend & I were celebrating a milestone birthday and had a perfect stay at their place.

Had a lovely stay in this cozy river town. The house was perfectly clean and had more accommodations than expected. Our host was close by but non-intrusive and the decor was very engaging and fun. We look forward to returning in the summer!

We really enjoyed our stay in Evan and Kristen's Airbnb. They made it easy and convenient to check in and out. I was very impressed with how well-maintained the space is. It was very clean organized, and cozy, and the kitchen was well-stocked with good quality cooking utensils. It is in a beautiful location that is private and quiet, but it is an easy walk to town. I would definitely stay here again!

If you are looking for a quiet getaway with scenic landscape and river access then this is the place. The area provides an off-the-grid feel (very spotty cell reception) but still allows for access to wifi at the house to stay connected if that is your thing. There is a park within walking distance that has a kayak launch area and several good restaurant options only a short 20-30 minute drive away in neighboring towns. Nick is an excellent host and is responsive almost immediately if you need anything. This is my second time here and I am already looking forward to coming back a third time!

Great stay. 100% should check out safe house saloon and grab some pizza. Other than that everything was immaculate. Perfect location. Beautiful scenery

It was the perfect girls weekend house. We had everything we wanted. The home is beautiful. We sat on the deck each morning and sipped coffee and enjoyed the peace and quiet. The beds were extremely comfortable and towels and linen were fresh and fluffy. The kitchen had everything we needed for a short two night stay. The home is ideally located next to a Kwik Trip for any forgotten items and a bar/restaurant next door. It was the perfect home!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The deck was phenomenal as the weather allowed us to use it morning, noon and night. The kitchen space allowed us to have more than 'one cook in the kitchen' without getting in one another's ways. The amenities and extra touches were so thoughtful - Impact Coffee at the coffee bar and a bowl of sweets as we entered - to name a couple. We love walking around Decorah. Since we were in town for Luther College graduation, we had easy access to both downtown and the college. We also had runners staying and the access to the Trout Run Trail was ideal for them. Sean introduced himself to us as we were packing up and we were able to personally thank him for his hospitality. We would definitely stay again.

Great place to stay within walking distance of any need in Lansing. Easy to find and plenty of space for activities. Great owners who are quick to communicate and friendly.

We were in town for my son graduation at Luther. Rather than pay the over price hotels in the area, we choose Tami place & it was well worth what we spent. Host family was incredibly welcoming. Made our family feel like we were home. We would for sure choose this home again! We thank them for making this a memorable time.

Perfect location and scenery if you are looking to get off of the grid but still want access to restaurants and small-town amenities nearby. Host is very responsive and answered all of our questions prior to booking. Everything was as it is described in the listing so we felt our experience was exactly as we expected for privacy, accomodations, etc. We will definitely be booking another stay here in the near future!
