The entrance of the Italian restaurant is framed by a rustic stone facade, featuring a bright red door and an 'OPEN' sign. Ivy climbs the side of the building, and a small mailbox with decorative flowers is positioned nearby.

Only that we were so excited about the dining at the restaurant that we ended up staying for two nights. The place was really clean and cozy, and I was very grateful to the owner for over 35 years. It was also close to Yufuin Station on foot, so it was easy to get to, and most importantly, the carefully served meal with relaxing music flowing in a good atmosphere was really the best. Fresh salads, deep flavors, aromatic coffee and hearty desserts were all great. After eating, I was very warm to talk to the owner, and I was touched by the meaning of the name ’Minaminokaze'. I would definitely visit again in other seasons. Once again, thank you for your hospitality and kindness.

No English spoken. But they try so hard to help you out. Also they called a translation service company to help you check in and with all questions. Very kind people. Nice onsen bath’s very clean. For me it was a nice experience.
A serene outdoor hot spring is surrounded by smooth stones and lush greenery. Soft steam rises from the water, while warm light emanates from above, creating a tranquil atmosphere in this secluded space.

The room was very spacious and impressed us right away. The steep path might be tough if you're carrying heavy luggage from Kinrin Lake, but there's a nearby bus stop that makes getting here from the train station much easier. The space was clean and well-organized, with an en-suite toilet in every bedroom and a spacious onsen with adjustable temperature. Just a heads-up — the onsen wall is shared, so you might hear guests next door. It wasn’t a big issue unless you’re very particular about privacy or happen to bathe at the same time. The area is quiet, though Yufuin can get quite dark at night, which might be a bit inconvenient for solo travelers. Still, we all loved our stay and would definitely come back.

Taiji’s home was incredible. The place was so unique and had the traditional Japanese ryokan house feel to it. We loved our room and the whole place including the beautiful surroundings. The private onsen in the evening was delightful but the star of the stay was definitely the dinner and breakfast served by Taiji and his family. The experience was truly one of a kind and we felt extremely blessed having had a chance to stay and dine here. The dinner cost additional, thus make sure to check upfront with Taiji if interested in the dinner but it is certainly well worth it 🤍 Thank you so much!
An indoor hot spring is visible, surrounded by natural stone, creating a serene bathing area. Steam rises gently from the water's surface, and a large glass door offers a glimpse of the outdoor space. Soft lighting adds to the tranquil ambiance.

Such a beautiful location near Kinrin lake. So lovely to walk out in the morning to see the steam rising from the lake on a foggy morning or watch the sun set in to the lake at night. An easy walk to the shops and restaurants. The best part of all is the private indoor / outdoor onsen. A perfect way to relax at the end of a day sightseeing. Staying here was a highlight of our travels. The roads around are pretty narrow and can get congested with pedestrians so we found it easiest to drive before 9am or after 5pm
The room features two spacious beds positioned beside large windows with wooden slats. Natural light fills the space, highlighting the wooden flooring and simple furnishings. Dark curtains frame the windows, providing privacy when needed.

[Takezono Station Hostel cue "hikari"] Experience a stay in a 90-year-old house in Takeda Castle Town in Oku-Bungo

CarolRating, 5 stars7 months ago
Arriving at Cue was better than arriving home. Smiles and friendly welcome by the host and his family greeted us at the door like we were part of their group of friends. Taka-san helped us with our bags to the room upstairs, and then treated us to a welcome drink. The 100year old traditional Japanese house is gorgeous and amazingly restored and re-purposed. This is the stay in Japan we didn’t know existed and exactly what we needed - and the kind of stay we would look for more. We had just a one night stay in Takeda, and watched the world stand still. We wish we could have stayed longer to experience the quiet ambience, the happy hospitality, and the tranquillity of the village. Memorable. We loved it. Thank you.
