Cottage vacation rentals in York County

Gorgeous view out the back over the York River. We went crabbing from the dock and had multiple bonfires after watching the most beautiful sunsets from the back yard. Fantastic outdoor amenities including a cook shack, outdoor refrigerator, multiple dining tables, and hot tub. Landscaping was immaculate. Located on a quiet road with absolutely no light pollution so the star gazing at night is flawless! Only a few cons that I would make guests aware of. First, is that it is a very rural location with few dining/entertainment options nearby. It's a good 25min to Yorktown, 40min to Williamsburg, and 50+ mins to Hampton. You could spend your entire vacation in the backyard or fishing from the dock and probably not be disappointed, but be aware that you will have a long drive to dining/entertainment. The second was that it wasn't the most kid's friendly. There are no bath tubs, only showers, no bunk/kid beds, and no toys for young kids. If those don't bother you, then you'll love it!

Exactly like John has listed. zero surprises!! His marking of the property with Green lights is Genius level navigating. Made coming and going either by car, walking on the street or the beach super easy to get back to your starting point. The Sunrises are absolutely breathtaking, a few steps to the beach and total bliss. The only thing we had to purchase was a fan, we like the extra noise for sleeping, we left it for the next fan sleepers! don't hesitate if you find this listing available!

We loved our stay at the "bay house" as we called it. It was beautiful and thoughtfully restored, with lots of gear for enjoying the water and outdoors, which we appreciated even though we were staying in January. The heating system throughout the house kept us comfortable even though it was cold and windy during our trip. We used the hot tub in the side addition the first night and loved it. The timing of our trip worked out perfectly during a water outage in Richmond, where we live, and Richard allowed our trip to be extended an extra night. The setting of the house was beautiful in the snow, and was a lovely space to walk around and explore with a pup when the cabin fever set in. Richard was incredibly responsive anytime I reached out with a question. We all talked about wanting to return in the summer! Would definitely recommend to anyone!

Our stay was nothing short of amazing. The house is absolutely stunning, and is stocked with anything you may need. Jennifer also added a few extra things for us, which made us feel right at home! We knew the place would be nice, but were truly in awe when we walked through the door. Cozy and clean, with tons to do without even leaving the house. We played in the game room, went kayaking, took a walk on the trails, and spent an evening in the hot tub. They also had a welcome book with some local recommendations which was super helpful, and checked in on us once we got settled to see if there was anything we needed. I would recommend this place ten times over!

Great stay and hosts! Went out of their way to make the stay welcome, including even shoveling the house out when we had snow. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

This was our first visit to Cape Charles thank you for making it a special one! We were in town for a wedding in VA Beach. The drive over the bridge is a short one and only 25min to the venue. We did not have much time to explore the local parks and wildlife refuge which are minutes away but it’s been bookmarked and we will next time. The home is so charming and comfy with all the amenities you could ask for and some. On our exit we stopped into town for an amazing breakfast @ Cape Charles Coffee House (strong recommend) and walked the boardwalk and took pics at the beach. Lastly, the host and hostess were such a pleasure from the introduction to our leaving and was always so engaged and invested in our experience so thank you to them. We’d love to come back if you’ll have us. Please stay here if ever in Cape Charles you won’t regret it!

My wife and I absolutely loved the cottage at Locklies Innlet. The combination of the beautiful water views and the cozy fireplace was exactly what we were looking for. The kitchen was well stocked for us to make our breakfasts every morning, and there was a terrific restaurant in walking distance. The cottage was very clean and welcoming. We felt right at home as soon as we walked in. Cornelia was extremely friendly and responsive. We will definitely be back!

I love Donna’s place so much . She is the best host, always available and a really kind person. Will always stay at her place while visiting my daughter and my new grandbaby ( until I buy a place so I can be near my grandbaby lol)

What a gem out in the countryside! The home is gorgeous and comfortable with two sitting areas and two TVs. It’s stocked with amenities—thank you for the coffee!

Such a great location - just a short walk from the beach. Front porch is a great place in the mornings and evenings. The dining room and living room fit our group well and we squeezed in the bedrooms (4 couples + 6 kids all 3 and under) but it was perfect since we spent most time outside anyways! Adam was super helpful and quick to respond when we needed a few items. Would definitely visit again!

This house is probably one of the best rentals we have stayed in. It is extremely clean, fabulously decorated and furniture and beds were extremely comfortable. The large modern shower was especially nice as this is unusual for a rental. The kitchen had all the utensils you could need and plenty of silverware and plates. The location is within a 5 minute drive of downtown and beach. In nice weather it would be an easy bike ride. The hosts are extremely responsive. When we arrived the keypad had been incorrectly programmed for the number, but I called and the phone was answered immediately and the problem resolved in minutes. Would definitely stay here again

This place is very quiet and peaceful. Really feels like a "get away." Very clean. Kitchen is clean and competently equipped--plenty of items like plates and bowls that are sometimes in short supply. It's a snug little cabin and just as sweet as the photos. No sense at all--unlike too many rentals--that it was decorated for photos rather than feel. It felt like is was genuinely set up to be a pleasant experience to BE THERE (not just look at). Thanks! We will hope to come back when life permits.

The latest of my numerous stays here was just as lovely as the rest

We enjoyed the quiet in the morning - the serenity of the surroundings. We would drink our coffee and listen and watch for the birds to appear around the water. We were pleased to hear the two great horned owls hooting back and forth with each other. We spent much of our days at our son’s house with the grandchildren and it as pleasant to come home to such a comfortable, lovely house. We had a great visit and would love to come again.

This house is adorable and so close to anything you could want to do or need. The owner is lovely.

Our stay at this property was truly an amazing getaway. The breathtaking views and stunning sunrises from the porch were a daily delight. The home is exactly as described and absolutely beautiful. We felt like we were at home. Each room is uniquely decorated. The doors opening up from the upstairs living room to the porch outside with a comfortable couch was so wonderful. We enjoyed the quietness Beach Music offered. We look forward to coming back soon one day.

A cozy cabin in a private campground but still very close to all the Williamsburg attractions and shopping and restaurants, and pet friendly.

We had a wonderful stay. The cottage was the perfect size for my group of 4 and had everything we needed for our 4 day stay. Check out instructions were easy and minimal. We spent most evenings on the beach watching the spectacular sunsets. The location was fantastic and in a lovely neighborhood and a quick and easy drive to Cape Charles. We also really appreciated the 2pm check in.

Our stay with family was a blast! We had beautiful weather for our stay and the front porch was our favorite for hanging out! And the fireplace was nice and cozy on the cooler mornings. The location is so convenient for walking downtown to restaurants and shops. Thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise!

Just the cutest place. We met the owners who live onsite. Very welcoming. Beautiful neighborhood. Only drawback is a small fridge. We did a girls weekend so not an issue for us. Highly recommend.
