Patty’s place is a beautiful, peaceful cabin right on the New River Trail. We booked this cabin because it was on the trail and had a large fenced in yard for our two dogs. The cabin was very clean and had everything you need in the kitchen! Nice dishes and pots and pans. The huge outside porch was perfect for eating lunch and dinner while the dogs played in the yard. It is a peaceful paradise! Patty always answered my questions so quickly!! Thank you Patty for sharing your cabin with us, we hope to be back this summer! Boo & Bella said thank you too! Woof woof!

Tonya's home was very nice, clean and had super comfortable beds. The house was a perfect distance to AT trail entrances/exits and allowed us to easily continue our goal of section hiking the Appalchian Trail. Also, a very good place if you have dogs....even though we did not have our dog with us, the place is perfect for anyone with a dog or two. Fenced yard, dog toys/treats, water bowls... really anything you could need for your dog (s). Tonya, thanks for a great stay! Charming house that truly felt like staying at Grandmom’s in the country. Large enough for a bigger family, 2 small families or a small group of friends. Lots of room to spread out. Kitchen was stocked with plenty of what would be needed for cooking meals. The surrounding area was beautiful. Perfect peaceful scenery for sitting on that front porch swing listening to the birds and watching calves chasing one another on the hillside. Freshly baked brownies were a thoughtful treat waiting for us when we arrived. Would definitely stay again.

It was amazing! The barn stalls and setup was unique. The view was beautiful and the house was homey and nicely decorated. Sheena was quick to respond to any questions I had. Would definitely stay there again 😊

Cottage at Bear Den is our “home” of choice when visiting Hillsville. It’s so cozy and welcoming with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed the deer grazing in the back yard and were visited by some turkeys. And did I mention the comfortable beds and linens!

My stay at Amy and Derek’s place was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. I took advantage of fishing and exploring the property with my pup, who was very enthused with the abundant wildlife. It truly is a unique place and I would absolutely come again! I would highly recommend the town of Galax VA only 35 minutes away. The breweries and coffee shop/antique stores are definitely worth a visit. Amy and Derek were very helpful with checkout as I was not able to view my checkout itinerary due to service issues (they do have WiFi!) and I would highly recommend reaching out to them for any help or recommendations on things to do or places to visit. Overall, if you’re looking for a relaxing retreat this is definitely the place for you! Thank you Amy and Derek for an amazing stay!

Awesome place to be and get away from folks. I saw reviews about people worried about a few stinkbugs... i wanted nature and got nature. A couple of honeybees and deer was the most but we would be kinda screwed without them. This was exactly what my family was looking for.

The cabin was a perfect stay for us and our pup! She enjoyed the wide yard and the cozy fireplace! The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and the water pressure on the shower was excellent! The bed had the softest sheets I have ever felt so I had to peek at the label to get some of my own! The cabin is only about a 30 minute drive from some great breweries, and close to Wytheville where there is great food, beer, and shopping. We even drove by the Graham mansion that runs a scare house in the Fall! The copious brochures were helpful in planning our day and there were multiple spots on the property where we snapped photos. The property is close to the road but you wouldn't know it! We loved it!

It was lovely this time of year. The hyacinths and daffodils were blooming all around the house. It was such a beautiful setting. Horses were next door in the field and a little creek running behind the house. The location was just a few blocks from the main part of town. Lisa responded quickly when I texted her and was very helpful. If you are looking for a quiet retreat, but close to town and the interstate, this is the place for you.
