Vacation rentals in Wheeler County

We loved our stay at Rimrock Cottage! The space was comfortable and a wonderful home base for visiting the Painted Hills and John Day Fossil Beds. We got a kick out of the local flock of turkeys and seeing dozens of California Quail. Would love to stay here again in the future!

The rental has a great mix of modern updates combined with retro fashion and repurposed materials: what a wonderfully funky bedroom door. I absolutely love the lamp shades in the kitchen and living room. She also makes great use of the modest amount of space. Overall, the place is well balanced visually and spatially. Truly, a lot of thought and consideration went into this rental. Anne's place is simply charming. It has style. I don't mean fashionable. I mean personally stylish, which is genuine. All said, Anne's rental has her heart in it. Good luck finding such elsewhere in the vicinity. Best of all things though, the place doesn't even feel like a rental. I would guess that Anne's place is really what Airbnb's are all about. If you ask her though, she'd probably tell you that The Hokey Pokey is Really What It's ALL About (You'd have to stay here to understand).

Beautiful private location on a fast running creek. A cool spring day with only the sound of the creek, totally devoid of the sounds of technology. We had the occasional cow or calf give us an inquiring look. A perfectly stocked supply of firewood and its fixings was provided, inky black, star studded sky at night. I had perfect sleep and total relaxation, a great setting to reset and recharge, l look forward to my next visit. Brian T

It's remote, private, and offers beautiful views. No one will bother you here. The skies are dark, making it a perfect place to enjoy nature instead of people. Walking out on the deck at night is serene. In the morning, you can open the bedroom sliding door to let in the fresh air and enjoy the amazing view—all without leaving your bed. Our two mini Aussies loved it there.

This little place was quiet, comfortable, and in beautiful surroundings. It was clean and well supplied, and had everything we needed.

Nice to be off the grid for three days. It’s really close to the national monument. The first aid kit was a welcome addition. Lots of room for the doggie to investigate. Loved the deer passing through. Plenty of coffee and very easy checkout process. Beautiful scenic views. Detailed instructions for locating the place were very very helpful - especially the pictures.

Home was beautiful, I could live there full time. Very remote and peaceful, with wonderful view. Good stargazing at night. A bit difficult to find, although Google Maps took us right to it. Access could be difficult in wet or snowy conditions, recommend 4WD or AWD. David was great, enjoyed his complimentary happy hour the first night we arrived. It's like we were old friends. Home was very well stocked, the only item missing was syrup for morning pancakes. Even had a coffee grinder (blade) and two varieties of coffee beans. It would be nice to have a TV, although we downloaded several movies and watched them at night on my laptop. A dishwasher would be nice also. We did get 1-2 bars of cellular service (Verizon) depending on where you were in the house. Overall a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it. I would be very happy to stay there again. maybe one of my favorite Airbnb stays EVER? the cutest cabin in the most beautiful location with all the most thoughtful touches. Theresa and Bobby were so friendly and I slept more soundly in StrawFork Cabin than I ever have at home. I can't wait to come back!
