Oh, hello there! Welcome aboard Theodore TOO, the beloved 65-foot, real-life, bright-eyed and bushy-bumpered tugboat.

I’m lucky to captain Theodore this summer, and I’m thrilled to welcome you aboard for a night. You’ll cozy up in our cabins surrounded by memorabilia celebrating Canada’s nautical history, enjoy a movie night on the deck — and of course, take a cruise in Hamilton’s Harbour with some of my finest crew members.

Booking opens at 12pm EST on August 29, 2022.

The space
Theodore TOO and I have prepared our cabins for guests, fit for a Harbourmaster and decked with iconic Canadiana and nods to Theodore TOO’s roots in Halifax — and complete with saltwater taffy, of course.

While we have a galley kitchen at the ready, we will treat guests to local eats from right here in Hamilton, supporting some of the small businesses that play such an important role in our city.

In honour of these stays, Airbnb will make a one-time donation to The Sunshine Foundation of Canada, a national charity that fulfills dreams for children and youth living with severe physical disabilities. For 35 years now (and counting), Sunshine has created more than 8,800 life-changing experiences for children and youth across Canada, and is a cause close to Theodore TOO’s heart.

Guest access
Please note: These guest stays will take place on a boat at a dock in the harbour. Guests concerned with motion sickness or uncomfortable with being on the water should avoid this guest stay. In addition, for your safety, a member of the Theodore crew will also be staying onboard overnight in their separate cabin on the lower deck.

Other things to note
These one-time, one-night stays are not a contest. The guests will be selected on a first come, first serve basis.

Airbnb is closely monitoring Ontario’s COVID-19 infection rates and government policies and will offer booking guests a refund of the booking fee ($22 CAD) and $1,000 USD Airbnb travel credit if Airbnb determines it is necessary to cancel the stay.

Since moving from his home in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 2011, Theodore TOO has become an instantly iconic attraction docked in Hamilton Harbour in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada — known as “The Bay” to us locals. Built in Daysprings, Nova Scotia in 2000, the 65-foot tug now works as an ambassador to the marine industry and a guide to our great lakes.

The bay is located right at the western tip of Lake Ontario, and for centuries, it has played a vital role in the development of both the city and our province.

The bay has no shortage of sea tales too. To start, Theodore TOO isn’t the only resident of these waters — rumour has it that an ancient cryptid lurks below, so keep a weather eye out during your stay aboard.

Ahoy, I’m Captain Noah, and I’m passionate about being a mariner. I’ve been sailing since my early teens and got my first taste of ‘life as a sailor’ when I joined the Brigs Youth Sailing Program. I have worked as a deckhand and chief mate aboard a variety of tugs and yachts in the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence River and Canadian East Coast. I’m thrilled to be spending this summer as the Captain of Theodore TOO.
