Casale Sant' Angelo Private villa with pool

AnnabelleRating, 5 stars5 months ago
Livios place was a lovely private destination perfect for our family. We were visiting the area for a wedding, and we felt very welcome. The pool was a great way to spend time together and we also had BBQ’s. It is important to have a car - we explored the lake, visiting all of the towns. We had an issue with wifi being in the countryside and also the TV, however Livio was very responsive in attending to this. If we come back to Bracciano area, we will definitely be re-booking with Livio

Stylish Villa with garden and pool

DeborahRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We stayed 3 nights in the accommodation and were very pleased to receive clear instructions for coming and also recommendations for outings. The accommodation is small but practical for 2 people and clean. Small downside, the ventilation in the bathroom couldn't be stopped at night which was disturbing for me. With earplugs, no worries. We especially enjoyed being able to enjoy restaurants and others outside Rome city center: much more attractive prices and really delicious food. Finally, transport is about ten minutes' walk to the property. We also had the pleasure of meeting the cats and chickens in the garden. We therefore recommend this place for those looking to experience a more authentic and less touristy part of Rome.

Napoleon's Boutique

JoriRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had a great stay! The place is located out of the major touristy zone while still being close to things you want to see. We were given great recommendations on the neighborhood from the host. We went to a few of the spots and they did not disappoint. It felt nice to come back to our place after spending time in the major tourist zones. Would recommend if you like a quieter spot and great restaurants. The place itself was great. We enjoyed our stay and found it very comfy. Only things to note: shower is tiny… and there is no “living room” spot (it’s a hallway with a bathroom, kitchen and bedroom off of it). We were fine with it since we didn’t spend much time inside the apartment.

Laura is such a special host. This was my second time staying here, and she definitely made me feel at home. Due to her hospitality, this is my favorite place to stay. Laura is very kind and responsive. She is so helpful with all of her recommendations and accommodations. This Airbnb is very quiet and quaint (picture perfect). You do not even feel like you’re in such a busy city like Rome. I cannot recommend this place enough 🥰

Casa "La Chiave di Sol" Fiumicino centro

CynthiaRating, 5 stars3 months ago
We decided to stay here on our last night before flying out early the next day and it was perfect. The house was clean, spacious and Lucilla is so helpful. We spent the afternoon walking to the piers and enjoyed the sunset on the beach. She recommended wonderful restaurants where we had amazing seafood, there's also supermarkets conveniently located close by. She also helped us to arrange a taxi to the airport early in the morning. Would recommend if you are tired of all the crowds in Rome to wind down and have a peaceful time!

Zoe's little house

PhilipRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Wonderful. From start to finish. Our flight was delayed so therefore our arrival was too, but Tania was happy to wait for us and did her best to speak English - which is great because I don’t speak any Italian. The property is clean and perfectly located in the bustling streets of Travastere. A great location - allowing us to see all the sights of Rome in just a few short days. At the end Tania looked after our luggage for a number of hours after check out which was excellent of her, so we could make the most of Rome. I will definitely be recommending Tania to friends who are visiting Rome in the future. Grazie a Mille!

Colosseo, cozy and comfortable

SharonRating, 5 stars31 months ago
Great apartment-best Airbnb host we’ve ever had. The apartment was just as advertised and fully met our needs and also in a brilliant location but without doubt the customer service we received from Federico (pre check in ) and Emerson (post check in ) was outstanding. It was like having our own personal concierge service !! Federico’s response time to questions was so fast (within 10 minutes ) and during our stay we had a few issues for the next part of our holiday and Emerson was utterly amazing (he organised a transfer to our cruise port with an 1 hours notice when our original taxi cab cancelled our minivan and also the day before when we were notified we now needed covid tests to board our cruise, we texted Emerson and by 8.45 am we had our tests and results and could continue our day in Rome without further worry ) 100% recommend this host and will book with him any future trips to Rome Huge thanks

Elegant and Spacious Apartment next to Pantheon

Colette Et HervéRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Excellent stay at Séréna's, the apartment in the heart of Rome allows you to visit everything on foot or by bus. Very comfortable (warmth, quiet, perfect bedding, spacious, practical shower, elevator) everything is there for a pleasant stay (thank you for the welcome basket, coffee, sugar... very practical!) Check-in and check-out were perfect for us, (flexible) to easily take the taxi in front of the Pantheon towards the airport. Thank you Séréna, we really recommend this peaceful retreat in this exciting city.

I had an amazing stay! The host was incredibly friendly, and the communication was smooth and easy throughout the entire process. They were super responsive, always available to answer any questions. The location is perfect for discovering the authentic side of Rome while still being close to all the main sights. The neighborhood is charming, vibrant, and full of character. Plus, it's just a 15-minute walk to the Vatican, which made exploring so convenient! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great Rome experience. Would definitely stay here again!

One caveat for people with mobility issues. There are some steps between the interior rooms - bedrooms to living room and dining room to kitchen - and steps leading to the front door. No elevator.

Romantic Studio with Balcony near Navona Square

DioneRating, 5 stars4 months ago
Perfect studio apartment in Rome to have the best trip and make the most of your time there. Location is fantastic and means everything is accessible Piazza Navona and the Pantheon is only around the corner. The apartment itself has everything you need to feel home from home. Although we never used the kitchen (who goes to Rome to cook!), it looked very well stocked. The bed was cosy and the shower was great. Enrico and Federica's communication was the stand out piece. Couldn't have been better, proactive and detailed instructions especially for checking in - much appreciated! Would happily stay there again, thanks again!

Your guide to Rome

Welcome to Rome

Rome holds a special type of pizzazz that isn’t replicated anywhere else on the planet. Its ancient roots, dating back long before its official founding in 753 BCE, make it a living history museum of ancient civilization, where the ruins of the landmarks featured in school history textbooks speak to visitors today as much as they did millennia ago to the Romans. That historic city center, surrounded by the Aurelian and Janiculum walls either side of the River Tiber, holds the remnants of a whopping 25,000 sites of historical and environmental importance. Rome is also one of the most vibrant cultural hubs in the world. Whether it’s innovative art institutions, thriving piazzas, or cozy coffee houses, the city’s future is as much of its personality as its past.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Rome

Choosing the best time to visit Rome comes down to personal preference: the warmer months come with huge crowds, meaning you may find long lines and limited tickets around town; if you visit during chillier periods, there’s a more manageable urban flow. The good news about the latter option is that low temperatures seldom drop below freezing and there can be moderate days, even in January and February. May and September may be a sweet spot to catch the best of both worlds. As Rome is an urban hub, it isn’t hard to find a festival or major event in the city at any given time, but annual highlights include the Festival del Verde e del Paesaggio garden festival in May, the VinòForum wine festival in June, the Taste of Roma food festival in September, and the season-long Lungo il Tevere Summer Festival from June through September, with al fresco performances and films at heritage sites.

Top things to do in Rome

Historic Roman Sites

When in Rome, visits to the headline attractions are a requisite. There’s the Colosseum, the Forum, and Vatican City’s Sistine Chapel (opt for skip-the-line access for all three), as well as the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps, but the list doesn’t end there. Other ancient landmarks include Palatine Hill, the Baths of Caracalla, Trajan’s Forum, and the Circus Maximus. Perhaps go fountain hopping at the Fiumi and Barcaccia fountains, or tour the piazzas like Piazza Navona, Piazza Venezia, and Piazza del Popolo. Other highlights include the Villa Borghese house and gardens, the Castel Sant’Angelo fortress, and the grand Altar of the Fatherland monument.

Roman Ghetto

As home to one of the world’s oldest Jewish neighborhoods, this area is filled with impressive sites such as the 19th-century synagogue and the Piazza delle Cinque Scole, as well as tasty eats―don’t miss the Roman-Jewish carciofi alla giudia (deep-fried artichokes) in the area’s eateries. But it’s also a place of reflection, such as at the memorial in Piazza 16 Ottobre 1943.

MAXXI National Museum of 21st Century Arts

As proof that Rome isn’t just about its past, the MAXXI is focused on contemporary creativity of every kind. The site comprises the nation’s first museum of architecture, as well as a modern art museum that includes theater, dance, graphics, and advertising.
