Cosy rural cottage

Our self-contained cottage is set within our rural, mature garden and surrounded by farmland just off State Highway 1. We are 15 minutes from the centre of Taupo with all the tourist attractions, golf courses and our beautiful lake a 10-15 minute drive away. It is a 50 minute drive to Rotorua and 90 minutes to the ski fields. Relax in our cosy cottage after exploring the beautiful Lake Taupo district or visiting for work or play. The cottage is private up from the main house with easy parking.

Our wee rustic guesthouse is in Ngongotahā which is 7km's from Rotorua central. Our rustic guesthouse is set in our back garden along with a Giant Flemish bunny, chickens and our 7 year old Labrador Rex. The space is private and has a double bedroom with a comfy queen bed & ensuite. There's a separate lounge with kitchenette & dining space, basic TV & cozy sofa, surrounded by a deck with gas BBQ. We are by no means luxurious, but do guarantee inspiration, character & heaps of love for our home

Accommodation with a beautiful view.

This is a lovely place to stay with a great view over Lake Rotorua. Situated in Hamurana, 5 minutes from a lake side walk, Hamurana Golf Course, Hamurana Springs or the local store. 20 minutes drive to central Rotorua. Accommodation has its own full modern facilities including kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Off road parking, set on a lovely quiet farm with friendly farm animals on-site, not far from town.

Tranquill Country Retreat in Rotorua City

As others have described it was fun to feed the sheep. Some were more friendly than others I may add so be careful. One acted like it wanted to head butt me so stay behind the fence. Beautiful view of the garden & neighbours pond with ducks. Very relaxing in the morning & evenings. The cabin seemed new & very cute. Keri left a delightful breakfast of eggs, yogurt, jam, bread, milk & cereal. It was perfect for a few nights stay as the living space is quite small. If you’re out lots that’s not necessarily a problem. The kitchen was very basic & no BBQ, but is more then adequate for simple meals. We enjoyed a run around the area, it felt safe. The parkrun on Saturday mornings at 8am was fun as it runs past small thermal vents. The Skyline restaurant had an impressive buffet so go hungry. The Polynesian spa was nice too. Most impressive was the redwood trees though. Lots to do in Rotorua so you need at least 3 whole days. Keri was friendly as well so we’d highly recommend the cabin.

This might sound like a bad review but it is not meant as such. It's so future guests aren't surprised. We enjoyed our stay here immensely. The chalet was perfect for a couple. Nice comfy firm bed, good kitchenette and ensuite. The chalet is on the grounds of a Christian camp facility for horse riding. The grounds are expansive. There's a small lake with kayaks for use. There's a pool with cool water and a very warm open air spa. The grounds themselves are lovely but the pool area needs some aesthetic tidying. The pools are clean and good - they just need their floors painted. They're also amongst what seems to be a semi abandoned construction area. But get past that superficial stuff, the pools are fine for purpose. A dawn spa was delightful. The grounds themselves seem to have 500 unfinished DIY projects on the go. The roads around the facility seem to have been through an artillery barrage so if you have a very low profile car, be wary. Despite the above we LOVED staying here. It was hot weather when we stayed and the room was very warm. In fact it could use a plug-in fan to circulate the air a bit. I totally recommend staying here and when I come back to Rotorua I'd definitely stay here again.

Renato’s home was perfect, makes one feel at home right away! Had our own private area of the house to ourselves. Bathroom is spotless and very nicely-furnished. Renato is very welcoming and friendly and even though we arrived late due to delay in schedules, they waited for us to settle in. Highly recommend to stay here and have some peace away from the hustle and bustle. Ps: they also prepared a spread for breakfast!

Our stay at The Shed was something out of a dream. It was somehow more beautiful than even the photos conveyed. We were greeted by Cliff, one of the owners who we got to chat with and learn about some of the surrounding areas! We felt so welcome and at home. He told us about a nearby lake we swam in which was such a highlight! The whole studio was beautifully furnished, and had spectacular views! And last but certainly not least we loved the hot tub. Got to use it while stargazing which was magic! I will recommend this stay to anyone coming to Rotorua!

Peaceful, rolling hills, short drive to town and all Rotorua has to offer - lots and lots to do. Wonderful family who went out of their way to make our stay special. Use of washing machine, weights for our workouts, fresh fruit from the orchard, fabulous dogs to play with and talk to, honey from their bees to go with the breakfast which was included. Thankyou and hope to see you again some day :))

The cottage was very clean and comfortable and the surrounding farm was beautiful and so peaceful. It was very fun feeding the chickens and alpacas and felt very private while still being close to the city. Marianne was very responsive and helpful with great recommendations!

Perfect location as we didnm nit want to he in Rotorua town. Close to the luge and close to the lake. Peaceful home behind the owners residence but still felt private. Kids loved the animals and we loved the country air. Large space for families (we are a family of 6) Jo went out of her way to post somehing we left behind. Very friendly hosts and we would stay again

“Breathtaking view and a perfect short stay!” We only stayed one night at Phil’s place, but it was unforgettable. The view of Lake Rotorua is absolutely stunning—hands down one of the best we’ve seen. The house was clean, cozy, and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing stopover. Phil was a great host, very responsive and welcoming. Wish we could’ve stayed longer—highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
