Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Polk County

We had such a nice Christmas stay with a handful of adults and kids. The property and view is pretty, the beds are comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to make Christmas dinner. This was a great spot for young kids since it is free of clutter and has an additional family room in the basement they could run around and watch TV in. Would love to return in the summer to experience the river and outdoor space.

An absolute gem of an Airbnb! There were five of us, all good friends from college 30 years ago and we get together every year at the least to ski. We found Heather’s Pitchfork Farm and it had everything we wanted - a bed for everyone, a hot tub, 2 or more bathrooms, fully stocked kitchen for making meals together, and the like. This gorgeous home did MORE than deliver - heated flooring, comfortable beds, a hot tub (fabulous 8 person!), every appliance we wanted or needed, a gorgeous couch where we lounged and watched a movie, and every touch that is even possibly imaginable all available for us to use. And…there are goats, cats, and chickens! I’ve also never seen so many blue jays in my life in one place - very cool and special spot. We got to experience a snow storm and we sat in the hot tub with our winter hats on and watched the snow blow off the trees in delightful explosions - magical! Thank you again, Heather!

This Airbnb was wonderful in every way possible. Also the host was very good with her communication and very timely. We highly recommend this place. We definitely plan to come back.

Great place! Wish had more time to spend there. Just needed a last minute place for some guys working out of town and they were able to accommodate us! Communication was great!

Had a wonderful stay for a weekend of board games with friends. Enjoyed walking the property, meeting the horses and the friendly dogs from a nearby home. Would definitely stay here again.

That’s the first place with sharp knives and enough q-ty of utensils (spoons, forks etc) :) We loved the place and definitely would recommend or return back.

We stayed here on out wedding night. Sarah is a sweetheart and let us check in a hour early, so the groom could get ready. The place was very clean and the decor was out of this world! So beautiful! You are right downtown and so close to everything. It was amazing to wake up and see the beautiful fall colors across the street! My husband and I loved this place!

The location was absolutely perfect, nestled in an adorable little town that felt like stepping right into a Hallmark movie. The charming streets, quaint shops, and picturesque scenery truly made our family’s stay feel magical. The rental itself was cozy and inviting, with every comfort considered. It’s a basement apartment in a house. From the materials used Id guess it was done in the 70s? Outside entrance around the back. It is probably the cleanest Air B&B that I’ve ever been in. That was really appreciated. It is very, very roomy for a 1 br apartment. The owner appears to be very kind. She is certainly responsive and proactive removing snow and salting when needed.

The Balsam Lake Bird's Nest can't be beat for its location on the shore of beautiful Balsam Lake. The bird-themed decor was tasteful and comfortable, easy to navigate, and a truly restful retreat. The location is in an engaging little town that hops in the summer, and allows easy access to winter recreational opportunities as well. It's a quick dash to the Twin Cities, and if you stay here, you'll be sure to be safe, comfortable and refreshed.

Very happy to stay here. Will be back as is a great base to explore sounding areas. Lots of really nice hiking trails within a couple minutes plus the small town has everything needed
