If you want to experience the real Sansibar, this is the right place. The site doesn’t provide much information, but Khamis replied very fast and answered patiently all questions we had and you can read the other reviews to get a good impression on what awaits you. The room itself is basic but outside it’s like paradise. Also it’s one of the cheapest rooms in this area. Staff is very nice and Yuma is an amazing cook. We had very delicious sansibari food. Don’t miss out to take a walk into town. You get in touch with all the friendly Lokals and their culture. If you read this before leaving for holiday: Please take some english books with you for the English school! The teacher gives classes for free and we talked to them (we got invited to their class) and it would help them to have some books for studying. Also: the night sky is very impressive, very low light pollution, especially if there is an power outage ;) at the beach you can see lots of fireflies. Beautiful place!

The room looks the same as in the pictures, especially the AC that works very well. The receptionist Khamis is very responsive and kind. You can have breakfast and see flying foxes (actually bats) after sunset on the rooftop. The house locates near the ferry, and 15 minutes walking distance to town. People in Pemba are super nice, jackfruits are very cheap (1 dollar for one!!!). I started missing it right after I left.

Seeing thousands of flying fox flying over the roof terrace in the evening is a fantastic experience, and this alone is reason enough to choose to stay at Sharook. Also you can be sure that Ismael and his team will go the extra mile for you. For me they arranged a great (and cheap) snorkel trip to Kokota Island with a very short notice. This was a very beautiful reef (matching e.g. Mnemba trips on Zanzibar) and there were no other tourists. They also arranged for me to book a motor cycle so I could explore Ngezi forrest and the northern tip of the island. Both trips custom made custom as per my request. Breakfast with lots of local fresh mango, served on the terrace with the view, also is a treat and something I will remember.

If you travel to Pemba on a budget, Varani is an option for you since there are not to many accommodation places there. Khamis's Airbnb is one of the few with a budget friendly price range. Even thow the room is basic and running on solar energy (electricity is a problem on the island) at least you have a private bathroom, clean towels and bed sheets and a spectacular view to the Indian Ocean since the property is right on the beach. You will also get complimentary breakfast and ground coffee (which is a rare found in the archipelago) and Khamis and Iohana (his help) were very nice and adapt theirs breakfast to my dietary requests. The beach in front is quiet and wild and the water is crystal clear. Since the property is running on solar, there is a special place on the property to charge your phone. Also be mindful with the water consumption since they bring water from town, in canisters, to fill up your bathroom tank. In conclusion Pemba is a place you come to admire the landscapes, to enjoy the quietness and the nature. For this reasons I recommend Khamis's place to all budget travelers.
