A house in the mountains where you can enjoy seasonal activities and panoramic views in a prime location.

NataliaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We had an amazing stay at Geoff and Aki’s place! They are incredibly caring hosts who made sure our trip was comfortable and unforgettable. They provided us with all the necessary information about the area and were always ready to help with visiting local attractions. The house itself was warm and cozy, with a breathtaking view from the window. At the end of February, there was a lot of snow, and the nearby ski resort was open – we could even walk there! Getting to the house by taxi from Nagano was easy, but traveling back without a car was a bit tricky. Fortunately, Geoff was very kind and helped us with transportation when needed. We truly appreciate their hospitality and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a wonderful stay in Nagano!
A modern shower area features a sleek glass enclosure and a rainfall showerhead. Warm wooden accents surround the space, complemented by tiled walls. A white towel rack displays neatly folded towels, while natural light filters in through a small window.

A house that feels like returning to a nostalgic hometown

JohnnyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
I have to say that this is the highlight of this trip in Japan. Mitsuru san friendly welcomed me even I arrived early in the morning. He introduced his house and how he enjoyed his life living in country side. After some discussion, we decided to go somewhere deep inside the mountain that foregine travellers could hardly found. We had a delicious lunch and went to take a bath in an onsen that a solo traveller relying on pulic transport like me can never reach. What really inspires me is our conversation during the drive in his car which was so fruitful and informative ( I can only speak poor Japanese, but Mitsuru san would listen and gradually explain to me by his fluent English), which helps me to understand more in local life and culture. I have to express my deepest gratitude to Mitsue san(Mitsuru san's wife) for making a fascinating dinner using local food for me. I would greatly recommend here to travellers seeking for a closer experience in Japan countryside lifestyle !

Iitoyama · Barrel of Ancient Giant Tree In winter, snow, spring, mountain vegetation in summer, cool breezes in autumn

EmmaRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Felt like I had stepped in to someone else’s life. The house is lived in, with lots of little trinkets and decor that I wasn’t expecting. It was also incredibly cold at times, even with the stove and heaters running, so definitely bundle up. Overall, it was an experience, and I appreciate that.

Birch Cabin

AndresRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Our group of 6 adults loved our stay at Birch Cabin. Would certainly recommend having a car, despite proximity to skii slopes, as the walk looked arduous. In our case, with a car, we had a great time with no issues. The place was as great as it looked.
The lodge is enveloped in a blanket of snow, featuring a classic black wooden façade with multiple gabled roofs. Large windows are partially visible, framed by snow-covered ground. The entrance is marked by a welcoming sign and a path cleared through the snow.

Ski lodge apartments & private rooms in Madarao.

KarenRating, 5 stars27 months ago
What a wonderful lodge to stay in to enjoy this stunning location. Our hosts couldn’t have looked after us better. Nothing was a problem. The food was delicious and the lodge was a warm and comfortable reprieve from the snow. We had an incredible powder snowboarding experience and some onsen time. Couldn’t recommend this lodge more!

We had an amazing stay at “@Tsugaike” with Marc and Heather! The ski-in, ski-out access made it so convenient to hit the slopes every day. Marc and Heather were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready with fantastic recommendations to make the most of our trip. The evening chats with them were a highlight—such great company! We also booked some ski lessons with their son Daniel, which were excellent and really helped improve our skills. This place truly offers the perfect combination of hospitality and convenience. Highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting the area. Great for families. We’ll definitely be back!

Chalet - 2 Futon beds - Share bathroom

I felt so lucky to have booked a room at Ado’s place. He was available at all time to assist and went above and beyond to help me after I had a bad injury on the 2nd day of my ski trip. He helped me move around, stay an extra night and also helped me get to my bus stop with all my luggage. I’d 100% stay here again knowing the service level.

Sunnsnow Kallin Cottage with car ski in ski out

MarcusRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Marks place was great and I enjoyed the time there. It was a little tricky to find the house and the roads were a little tricky to navigate. Definitely need 4wd in the winter. I would give everything a 4.9 if I could; it’s tricky to find the house in the first try. Mark himself was great and even warmed up the house for us which was really nice.
