Vacation rentals with outdoor seating in Newaygo County

"The Land" was perfect to celebrate an 80th Birthday. The main floor bedroom was great for the guest of honor. We ended up with 14 of us staying at the house (with a little coordination for the 2 bathrooms) it was a great set up. It helped that the weather was nice, so we could be outside by the fire or playing yard games. Some people enjoyed walks on the property as well. Nathan was very quick to answer all our questions. Not having internet or TV I think allowed for more interactions and game playing. Cell phones worked just fine. Thanks for sharing your place it will be a great memory for our family.

What an incredible gem - I wanted to get up into the Manistee Forest for some bike riding and hiking, and this was a perfect spot to escape and relax. Probably the nicest outhouse/compost bathroom I have ever seen! Cynthia was super responsive and helpful and even set me up with some firewood and kindling for the evening. The cabin is absolutely beautiful and I enjoyed exploring a little bit on my bike through the trails. Loved her recommendations in Newaygo, and hope I'll be back! A perfect spot for someone like me who wants to retreat but stay warm and dry, and enjoy my campfire coffee in the morning watching the birds.

Beautiful home, definitely a unique experience. We did a family Thanksgiving and have a lovely time.

I stayed for an October weekend at Josh’s place & it was peak fall up north Michigan magic. It was so so peaceful & quiet, there are so many kayaks & boats to use. The kitchen is fully stocked & everything is labeled for ease. I had a question prior to arrival & Josh was quick to answer. We didn’t go into town during our stay, we were interested in a loungey slow weekend and it was just perfect. Would absolutely return again.

Everything was great! John was flexible with check-in time and promptly answered messages that I sent. Looking forward to staying there again!!

Than & Lisa are amazing hosts. The cabin more than suits the needs for anyone looking to go off the grid and find all the peace and quiet that exists on the property and surrounding nature. Speaking of nature, it’s a stone throw from Manistee National Forest and the North Country Trail (Hiking trail running from Vermont to North Dakota) if you’re into that type of thing. If not, there is plenty to offer even the infrequent outdoorsy person something to gravitate to. Be mindful of the lack of internet (cellphone) service…but that’s the point right?!?!

Beautiful home on a lake with trails all around. I loved the outside front porch that overlooks the Diamond Lake. Great place to relax and take in the nature. Extremely friendly restaurant/bar / gas station across the street. We got to meet the owners of Schindy’s and they made us feel very welcome . I’d definitely would love to come back .

great secluded lake spot. within 15 minutes of multiple walking trails on state land. perfect spot for couples or small family that wants nature and peace and quiet. responsive host with any questions and very proactive to ensure we were settled in the cabin. Will book our next Michigan getaway with Michael again.

Sarah and her co-hosts were extremely responsive and pro-active the whole time we were in communication. My family and I had a great time at the cabin, and found lots of amazing and thoughtful amenities. I’d love to come back in the summer to use the lake, but it was a great cozy winter experience.
