Stay at school!Midorie Clock

MariaRating, 5 stars12 months ago
Wow, this place was great! We really enjoyed staying in this old school building. We had the whole place to ourselves and had a great time cooking in the school kitchen, sleeping in a classroom and just imagining how it used to be when the Japanese students were staying here. Some of their school works are still displayed in the hallway, and everything is still in place just as when the school was in use. Even school books are still in the shelves. Yumi was the perfect host. She gave us advice and helped us get a taxi to the train station, and she even went all the way for us when we forgot a luggage at the train station and she shipped it to our next destination. Thank you so much. The area is also very nice with beautiful nature all around. With a car it must be great to explore, but we managed with taxi and trains. We went to the little town Motoyama nearby and ended up in a very interesting cafe called Missy Sippy, absolutely worth a visit.

The host was very responsive while I was querying some questions in the chat. Check-in was so smooth because he was welcoming us at the lodge and giving us instructions in person. I was so amazed when I heard his story that he built the lodge by himself during the pandemic. The lodge was pretty clean and cozy.

It was a new and clean inn.Access to tourist destinations is also excellent, and there is no shortage of restaurants nearby. You can't go wrong staying here. There is also a coupon for free admission to the nearby hot springs, and the service is good. Other than the three points of the price being a bit high, the floor being very cold, and the air being dry but not having a humidifier, there are no complaints.

Incredible host, so kind and understanding of changes in my plans. I’m grateful he rents out his car (and for so cheap!) because Kochi Pref. has STUNNING places to go to. He’s very friendly, chill, and keeps his place very clean. Also, I concur with other guests that his bedding and mattress are HEAVENLY! Best sleep of my trip in Japan 🔥🙏🏽
