Vacation rentals in Zanzibar

Ahmed and his family (Issa and Awad) were really great hosts (they manage the property). Ahmed is an amazing cook with extensive knowledge of the area. He is very helpful in organising day trips and answering questions about Zanzibar and its history. A driver is absolutely necessary for everything but walking on the local beach (which I'd recommend), and Issa and Awad (Ahmed's brother and friend) did a great job showing us around the island. When staying here, make sure to eat the food that Ahmed prepares - the fish and fresh salads are some of the best I have ever had, and at a price that is well below most touristy restaurants in the area. If we are every back in Zanzibar, we'll be sure to stay here again (indeed, we look forward to it)!

The place was good, in the midst of Stone Town, and had plenty of space. Bathrooms were useable, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. The only challenge was the stairs that were steep and needed attention when going up and down. Lovely neighbours and the people running the place were quick to respond and helpful. We locked our key in and it was a quick fix. If you want a good place outside of the tourist usual this could be it.

Great stay at Arsheen's. Super responsive host, central location, and a nice extra to have pick up included. Mushtaq was very helpful with check in and check out.

I enjoyed my stay! It was really good and the host was helpful and collaborative. I got to know a lot about Zanzibar and even had a Karaoke night at the place😄! What can I say? Authentic African hospitality!

Ishaq’s Luhasa Apartment was a very nice place to stay. Two large bedrooms and a dining area, plus a good size kitchen. It’s in a great location right in Stonetown. Ishaq is a very nice host and always responded very quickly if we contacted him, plus he reached out to us to see how we were doing. One drawback was some neighbors seem to have a dinner party or something every night from about midnight to 3 AM which was quite loud. Hopefully they can be asked to quiet down. Otherwise, the stay was great. Accommodations, location, price, and host, all excellent!

great place to stay, located in the heart of the stone town area, 10min walk to Livingstone beach area. My only criticism would be the steep stairs leading to the room. it personally was not an issue for me, and would not be an issue for most people...but could be an issue if you are an elderly person or have mobility issues. would definitely stay here again.

We spent our last night before the flight home with Yusuph and can fully recommend it! Communication was perfect, extremely courteous, polite and helpful - he even provided us with water in the evening without being asked when we didn't have enough! Yusuph also took care of our transport to the airport in the middle of the night, arranged a driver and personally made sure we were awake. Nevertheless, he was never pushy, it really couldn't have gone any better. The apartment has everything you need, you share the bathroom and kitchen with other residents, the location is very good for exploring the city (restaurants right next door). There is air conditioning, next to the apartment is a path where you can hear people at night, but we had no noise problems. Thanks Yusuph!
