Hidden Gem Quite Dead-end St Near All Casinos

Great place to stay clean and close to the event we went to… they were helpful and allowed us to stay 1 hr longer for our convenience… there was only one TV in the house so if you have kids make sure they have their tablets or they will control the one TV other than that it was enough space for us…. Thanks

Green Hill Getaway

SusanRating, 5 stars8 months ago
This house was spotless. Everything felt clean, the beds, the bathrooms. 5 bedrooms all nice size and clean. No carpets which is fantastic when you allow dogs. So happy to bring my two Bostons. Plenty of supplies and kitchen utensils. Nice backyard and neighborhood. AC worked great. The only thing I would recommend is a door on the outside shower. From CT and we don’t have outdoor showers so it would have been nice to have everyone shower outside. Other than that it was perfect for my family. Loved having the bikes ! Jackie left us wine and snacks totally appreciate it. We had a great week.

It was a perfect spot for our little family vacation. We were so close to a few really nice beaches and the area is a short drive to mystic aquarium and village. Patsy and family are very nice and gave some great suggestions for activities in the area.

Perfect getaway in Shelter Island! The pool house is as amazing as it looks in the listing :) Cute house on a beautiful, peaceful and very private green lot. Primael was very welcoming and responsive. She was also very flexible in terms of our check in and check out. Everything went super smoothly. We enjoyed our stay a lot!

Your guide to Misquamicut State Beach

All About Misquamicut State Beach

One of Rhode Island’s largest and most beloved beaches, Misquamicut State Beach spans a half-mile of the state’s southern coast. Known for its soft, golden sands and mild surf, the beach has been a haven for East Coast shorebirds since it first opened to the public in 1959. Summer often sees children playing in the shallows, with adults reclining under colorful umbrellas.

The town of Westerly, where the state beach resides, is where you’ll find most Misquamicut beach rentals, restaurants, and shops. Clam dishes are, of course, abundant, but the menus are not limited to just seafood. There are several other Rhode Island beaches close by as well, including Dune’s Park to the east, with lovely tennis courts to play on, and Watch Hill to the west. Watch Hill features a historic lighthouse and seasonal museum, accessible by a private footpath leading from the village.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Misquamicut State Beach

Most beaches are at their best in summer, and Misquamicut State Beach is no exception. The area is pleasant from May through October, with July and August being Misquamicut’s hottest months, and as such the best ones for conventional beach activities like swimming, sunbathing, or picnicking on the sand. The town also offers big-screen movies by the beach in the summer evenings. The River Glow event — when floating bonfires drift down Westerly’s river — happens in July as well. In winter, wind and rain whip through the sand fences that hem Misquamicut State Beach, but a truly good storm can be as gorgeous as any sunny day. If you don’t mind getting a bit damp, there’s plenty of hiking and birding nearby as well. In May, the Virtu Art Festival fills Westerly’s 14-acre Wilcox Park with paintings, pottery, jewelry, and crafts.

Top things to do in Misquamicut State Beach

Napatree Point Conservation Area

Just eight minutes west of Misquamicut village is the Napatree Point Conservation Area: a nature preserve that spans more than 80 acres. A three-mile sand and rock trail loops along the shore, offering a moderate hike and a chance to spot a variety of birds, including snowy owls in winter and piping plovers in the spring.

Atlantic Beach Park

This oceanside amusement park has been running since 1921, and its classic charm is still intact. Arcade games, rides, and an authentically retro ice cream bar share the park with a Herschell-Spillman Carousel featuring three elaborately carved Marcus Illions horses. In summer, live music and events abound on the beach, especially during the Atlantic Beach Music Festival held annually. Entry is free and there are plenty of food trucks around to grab a snack before settling down for the show.

Misquamicut Drive-In Theater

From May through October, the Misquamicut Drive-In Theater screens movies after sundown — and sometimes even live shows and music. Tickets must be purchased in advance, but once you’ve secured one, all you need to do is park your car, turn on your radio, and try to keep the popcorn from falling between the seats.
