Staying with Diana in Berastagi was one of the most memorable parts of my journey. Her deep knowledge of the area, warm personality, and unmatched hospitality made my stay truly exceptional. Diana went above and beyond as a host—cooking delicious meals from fresh local ingredients, sharing her deep connections with the community, and introducing me to trusted local guides who made exploring the area stress-free. Her home is a peaceful oasis, surrounded by lush farm fields, offering a serene escape from the noise of daily life. The location is perfect, with easy access to Mount Sibayak, the Berastagi fruit market, and nearby towns that are simple to navigate. Diana’s kindness and dedication to her guests made me feel incredibly welcomed and supported throughout my stay. Whether you’re looking for adventure, cultural immersion, or peaceful relaxation, Diana’s home is the perfect base. I highly recommend staying with her for a unique and unforgettable experience in Berastagi.

Mery is a super sweet host. Even after our stay she was very kind as to help us out with some stuff. We did the volcano tour with her husband, who was super funny. The only downside was that Berastagi itself is not such a nice place to be in my opinion, but if you need to be there for visiting the volcano, then for sure I would recommend going to Mery’s!!

The accomodation was a real highlight for us and a main reason to extend our stay at lake toba from three to six nights. We slept in a traditional Batak house which had a unique charm. The wooden structure is very cozy and the mosquito net kept us save at night. The mattress was fairly thin but we slept well nevertheless. The shower suffers from low water pressure but since the crystal clear lake toba is right at your doorstep that also wasn't a big deal for us. What makes the place particularly special is the company of uncle Bond. He did not get tired offering us coffee and fruits and gave us an authentic tour through the area. Uncle Bond is an amazingly kind soul and we were happy to get a glimpse into his world.
