Places to stay in Melrose

Many thanks to Liz, Richard, Mel and Scott for a most enjoyable stay in their lovely spacious central apartment. Fantastic views from the bedrooms. Everything you could wish for and close and handy to food shops and outlets. So nice to have all the little extras like tea, coffee, shower gel etc. and was really helpful that we could leave our luggage early. We had great fun visiting the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh Childhood Museum and Adventures at Dynamic Earth. We wandered around the Old Town, stopped to play at Princes Street playground and loved our trip on the open top bus tour. Very easy to get to and from Edinburgh airport. The weather was amazing. Thank you once again.

The Whislestop is a fantastic place to get away from it all. Peaceful, scenic and the property had great character. Terri made sure to provide all the relevant information and instructions on finding the property, things to do in the local area and ensured everything was clean and neat for our arrival. The personal touch of having the fire going for when we arrived was thoughtful and very much appreciated!

The cottage is lovely with beautiful surroundings. The living room in particular is stunning. We are a family of 5 and had plenty of space. Our eldest (11) loved the loft bedroom. Instructions from Liz were excellent and using what3words we found the cottage with no issues. The area is gorgeous and we saw lots of wildlife on the way which was great. The cottage is about an hour away from the centre of Edinburgh, so it’s ideal if you’re wanting to visit Edinburgh but stay away from the noise of a city. Thank you so much for having us, we had a great time 😀

This was a perfect place for our small family. Comfortable, clean, and fantastic location and views! The host was extremely helpful with bag drop off and consistent communication. Highly recommend!

We had a wondeful weekend in Edinburgh and the apartment did not disappoint. The location is ideal, close enough to the main sites, but still private and quiet. Paul left some essentials in the apartment, which was much appreciated. The apartment felt bigger than on the pictures and had great touches, from original features to modernised fixtures.

The photos do not do the place justice - it is absolutely beautiful and so thoughtfully decorated. So much bigger than it looked online too and we had a great stay. The only issue we had was that the hot water stopped working mid way through the day. Elizabeth was super helpful and responsive to the problem but we had to be in Newcastle for early evening so it meant 6 of our party had to have freezing cold showers one day as the water took too long to come back on. Other than that, I can’t fault it. Surroundings are beautiful. So peaceful and yet close to shops, airport (25 mins), a gorgeous spa (matfen hall), and a 35 min minibus to Newcastle. Would recommend to all.

No better location! Walking up to the apartment you’re greeted with a gorgeous view of the castle, so many restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance - it was the perfect home base. The size of the space and amenities were ideal to enjoy the weekend with my friend. Gavin was also super responsive friendly and to all messages.

What a perfect apartment, ideal for our family, we found it to be even better than the listing suggested! Spotlessly clean with great quality furniture including beds, bedding, pillows and lovely thick towels. The kitchen was particularly well stocked, our 5 year old was delighted with the little boxes of cereals and such a treat to find a Selkirk Bannock too! Would definitely stay again, we had a lovely relaxing stay

We had a brilliant time in Edinburgh, made easier and much more enjoyable by staying here! The location couldn't have been better, the apartment had everything we needed and Paul's communication was top notch. Would highly recommend and will look to book again if we ever visit Edinburgh in the future.
