Family-friendly vacation rentals in Mathews County

Brooke gave clear instruction and made the check in/out process easy. I apologize that I was less than responsive (my wife had a medical emergency and didn’t arrive until a day and a half later). Brooke’s place was spacious and had good amenities. It was a bit dark and outdated (old carpets, furniture & tv/electronics) and not as clean & fresh smelling as we would’ve liked but still adequate. The community pool and arcade were very nice, the kids had a blast. We liked that it was a quick 15 minute ride to Busch Gardens & Water Country.

Perfect location for travelers. Entertainment, stores, restaurants. Just about anything to do or see. Comfortable and clean accommodations. Very enjoyable.

Very nice place, but just note that this is a time share place and the rooms/furniture may not look exactly as they are in the photos on airbnb.

Igor’s place was excellent! The space was clean, in a fantastic location, and exactly as described in the listing. Everything went smoothly, and we had a wonderful stay. Highly recommend!

I appreciate Brooke for her very timely customer service & response time. I originally tried to book with another host within the same resort and he was so nasty, that I wasn't going to look again within this resort. I looked again and it was GOD who guided my fingers to her listing. I'm glad I didn't give up and So glad Brooke was the Angel to respond IMMEDIATELY! Good location next to the water park and Target. Quick response for short notice trip. Stronger than. Good quality furniture and new flooring.

Outstanding owner who genuinely cares about the people who stay at her property I would recommend this property in this owner to anyone and business or a vacation this is been a wonderful experience much better than expected

Very clean and spacious. Friendly staff and the pools are fun for younger kids. Jamestown beach about a 20 min drive, (river not the ocean) is especially nice, warm water and lots of sand.

Very well setup home with a great location for all of the historic triangle activities. Walkable for a few restaurants (<1mi) and very easy to get in an out of. Only item to be aware of is the morning traffic if you are sensitive to road noise but it doesn't pickup until closer to 7AM. The home has everything you need and enough space to relax after a full day walking the historic sites. Spence is a fantastic host and extremely quick to respond to any questions. He even provided some recommended activities and family friendly options for the kids. We will be looking to return once the kids are a bit older for our Busch Gardens trip.

Our family enjoyed our stay at this Airbnb! It is very nicely put together, complete with board games and puzzles and a well-equipped kitchen. We appreciated all the space and having a bathroom per bedroom worked out nicely for the three separate families staying there. The location can’t be beat. I would definitely recommend for large groups!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Rick and Christi's Airbnb. The location is perfect for anyone looking to enjoy a peaceful getaway, with direct access to the beautiful sandy beaches of Chesapeake Bay. Whether you’re into water activities, fishing, or just taking quiet walks around the serene neighborhood, this place has it all. One thing to note is that this spot is not for those seeking nearby restaurants or bars because there aren’t any in the vicinity—and that’s exactly what makes it so special. It’s a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. Our family, including my wife and 14-year-old child, thoroughly enjoyed our time here. But what truly sets this place apart is the warm and friendly hospitality from Christi. She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. A lovely touch was the fresh jalapeño pepper she gave us, which we’re still using in our meals. Thank you, Christi and Rick, for making our vacation memorable.

Cute little place just blocks from the beach! Downtown is right around the corner and easily walkable. For folks with mobility issues, be aware that the interior stairs are very steep. We navigated them fine. Also, remember this is a duplex so there might be someone next to you. Our weekend neighbors were pleasant and friendly. Great stay!

The Blue House in Irvington is a gem! David & Laura are incredible hosts! The house is private & peaceful yet an easy walk to downtown & The Tides Inn. It is also conveniently located to explore the Northern & Middle Neck of VA. The hosts have thought of every detail to make this a home away from home. The beds are comfy with pristine linens, bright white towels are provided, both the living & dining rooms are set up to be functional & comfortable, there are lots of seating areas outside to enjoy the beautiful grounds including a patio with grill & lights, the galley kitchen is complete with everything needed to make an easy breakfast as well as a complete dinner using all of the fresh seafood available in the area. David & Laura were extremely easy to communicate with & were so cooperative in dealing with our very last-minute booking. They provided lots of helpful information about the area’s many special places. They responded quickly to any request. A magical place!

Salty Sisters is a wonderful place to stay! The views are lovely and the skylight in the kitchen is awesome giving lots of natural light in the space. I worked here for 2 days during a snow storm and all was quiet and beautiful. The studio is large and has everything you need for you and your fury friends, including a private fenced backyard. Rebecca was proactive and responsive and allowed me to check in early due to the arriving storm system. I loved being here in the snow and overlooking the snowy bay. Also, the studio has gone through a bit of a renovation since the photos were taken and looks even better. This is a great place and I will definitely return and recommend.

Our multi-generational family loved our two weeks at Big Bay. The house is well-appointed and comfortable, and the beach, which you can see from the living room, dining room, and kitchen, is stunning. Water toys (paddle boards, floats, PFDs, chairs, etc.) are available in the garage under the house. There have been updates to the deck since the photos were taken - the side deck on the left of the house when you’re looking from the water is covered and screened with a table and the aforementioned outdoor kitchen. It’s a great place to enjoy the nice weather and catch the breeze without having to worry about the sun. Just in front of the screened-in area is a large, comfortable couch. Susan let us know before we arrived that a couple of the burners on the grill in the outdoor kitchen weren’t working & provided us a different grill from one of her other properties to use instead. We really appreciated that she was proactive and it was a great solution for our needs. We hope to return!

This house and stay were exactly what we needed! We are a quiet family that loves peaceful spaces. The home was beautiful, well maintained, clean, updated, and extremely well appointed. Access to both the beach and lake was easy, as was getting into and out of town. Jack proactively reached out to us when we got there to ensure everything was in order and offered assistance if we needed anything. We didn’t need anything during the week but we felt good knowing he was available. We met some of the neighbors in passing and they were friendly and welcoming, too. Wonderful experience!

This condo is very basic and styled from when it was built. There is a great little coffee shop at the center of the resort that this condo is located in. A keurig is present in the unit but no coffee supplied so make sure to bring your own if you need a pick me up as soon as you wake up. I had the TV instruction sheet but could not get either to work so make sure to bring an iPad or some other device if you want to stream shows.

Tara was fantastic. When the listing we originally requested booked unexpectedly, Tara offered us a comparable listing available for the same dates rather than forcing us to keep searching. Communication was clear and concise, the accommodations were clean & comfortable, and we had a great visit to the area.

We had a great stay at the resort. There were so many amenities and the pool was only a short walk away. The kids had a great time in the pool. We were glad to have it because the heat index was over 100 and we couldn’t do some of the other things we had planned in the area. A really nice, spacious place to stay!

This is a very very clean and friendly place the whole place was gorgeous his his hotel rooms were unbelievable from the kitchen to the bathroom to the living room you had a great time when we were there for all the amenities and everything to do with the parking how close you are next to water country you can walk to it Williamsburg and Busch Gardens we were there every single night both places thank you again

This place was home away from home, spotless. I loved the pools and hot tubs the best. We loved sitting outside on the balcony plus cooking our own meals was great for us. Tara’s kitchen was equipped with everything you need to make homemade meals. We absolutely loved this place and will be back again. Thank you Tara we had a wonderful time staying here😇😇😇😇😇😇💕💕💕💕💕💕

Just returned from an amazing stay at Preston's home! From the absolutely beautiful sunsets, dolphins in the Piankatank, fab fishing on the dock, comfortable beds, incredible salt water pool, kitchen with everything, to delightful surprises at every turn -- we loved our trip! This wonderful vintage house is full of love, books, games and private spaces for all. Bonus: the tap/bath water is great...not the usual hard water in the Northern Neck, and the air conditioning was very welcoming during this heat wave. Preston answered our questions immediately. Everyone in our group raved about our experience and we'd love to return!
