Places to stay in Macomb

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Big Oak. Marnie and Brian were waiting for us in their Gator when we arrived and greeted us like old friends. As a mom of a leash reactive pittie mix, I reached out to Marnie and Brian before we booked to confirm that there would in fact be no other dogs around and if there was, they would be leashed. They were both very understanding, honest and responsive when I made these inquiries. The Cabin itself is so stocked its insane. Anything you think you might need, they provide it. Olive oil, salt, heater, dog towels, tampons, toaster oven, home made cookies, coffee. They just really want you to feel at home and you DO. They also have it stocked with chilling out activities... things like games, music, DVDs, a full bird-feeder to watch birds, a scavenger hunt. The land is really well taken care of and beautiful. We enjoyed hiking the trails and taking in the sights. Our dogs had the time of their lives. We cannot wait to go back.. We already booked!

Came into town for a few days on business and Laura’s home was the perfect stay. The beds are comfy, the showers have great water pressure, and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you might need to stay in and make dinner at the house! The location is great. Far enough out of town to give a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, but close enough to get to anything you might need in a quick 5 minute drive.

If I ever come back to the area I will stay here again!!

We loved our stay at Hart house. We were surprised to arrive and see it really was right across the street from the temple. It was an amazing view, not to mention the view of the mississippi river down the hill. The home is appointed in antique and arts & craft period pieces. There was lots of room for our family of 6 too. It was beautiful and just fantastic. The weather got cold and very windy and we enjoyed staying indoors that evening and enjoying the beautiful home and view. This is not a comment on the house but Nauvoo in general for April. There is very little to eat in town. There is no grocery store in town and Keokuk 20+min away is the closest city with grocery stores. We decided we’d just eat out. Well, Casey’s gas station is the only place open for breakfast before 10am, and gratefully, their breakfast pizza and breakfast wraps are ok. For dinner, the nauvoo inn is open on the weekend but on a weekday night, the Red Front is all that’s open. Just a heads up!

This was our second time staying at The Yellow Door Cottage. The place is pretty and clean as described. Stacey is the great host, she always pays attention to detail and fast response.

Very nice place was in town visiting family for the holiday very spacious and reasonably priced better option than local hotel in town. I will definitely be booking when I’m back in town.

Quiet neighborhood, in a small town. Close to the grocery store and places to eat in town. It was a clean place and it was affordable and close to where I needed to go. I will definitely stay again!

Cute getaway. On a main road. But perfectly quiet. Furnishings were very nice. More than we expected.

I’ve stayed there one other time and it’s very nice. They have done some nice landscaping and built a patio but couldn’t use it this time- cold and rainy but definitely look forward to using it next time in warmer weather.
