We had an amazing few days at The Thistle. The van is beautifully kitted out with everything you could possibly need. Everything is catered for, down to cooking oil, tin foil, kitchen roll. All the things that are normally forgotten. The beds were very comfy and linens of a high quality. It was a home from home. The van is right on the shoreline and the beach and views are beautiful. Dornoch is only a few miles away and has some lovely restaurants but there is an onsite restaurant and pub too. Tanya went over and above for our stay and we greatly appreciated it. Thanks for having us at your beautiful caravan

We had a brilliant 4 day break at this lovely wee cottage. There was absolutely everything we needed for our stay and we loved all the extra wee decorative touches Brett has added too. We were blessed with sun every day and breakfast in the cute wee garden was a great way to start each day. Loved that we were 1 minutes walk from the beach and did a lot of exploring along this beautiful part of the coast. We even did a bit of body boarding in the sea too!! Would definitely stay again.

We had the most wonderful stay at the crab shack! As a family of seven, it can sometimes be tricky to find a place that ticks all the boxes, but this home exceeded our expectations in every way. The house itself is spacious, beautifully kept, and thoughtfully designed to offer both comfort and style — there was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax. What truly made the stay special was the peaceful setting. Waking up to the sound of the waves and having the beach just steps away felt like a dream. It was the perfect place to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy some quality time together without any distractions. The views were breathtaking, and the fresh sea air was a treat. We left feeling refreshed, recharged, and already planning our return. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a serene escape by the sea :-)

We absolutely loved our stay! The place was so relaxing with beautiful surroundings. The hosts were very responsive and sent recommendations before our arrival of stuff to do. We loved the board games that were available! Was even better we could take our pup with us too! We’ll definitely be back in the future!

Absolutely beautiful house, gorgeous furnishing and loved all little extras around the house that made it home from home. Beautiful setting with the beach down the lane. Warm Welcome to the home and the best welcome pack ever! Recommendations on the area and we were going to Orkney’s for day so got some extra tips. Absolutely perfect couldn’t fault this house at all and would love to stay again.

We enjoyed our stay so much we extended to a second night. The house was perfect and the hot tub and deck area was amazing! Complete tranquility and relaxation. It couldn’t have been better! We just adored it! Loved visiting Geise Farm and seeing all the animals, playing in the big garden and visiting Strathy Beach! Brilliant hosts!

Beautiful home and Rachael was a great host (hands off but very responsive-just what I like). The location cannot be beat. We had a car but chose to taxi most places. Even our taxi drivers were admiring the location. The hot tub was AMAZING. We got stuck on the island an extra day due to weather conditions impacting ferry crossings. Rachael was able to accommodate an extra nights stay. Although you feel very remote, there are 3 grocery stores within 10 minutes and you have easy access to all of Kirkwall. Favorite part was the neighbor sheep….waking up and looking out to see all the sheep while you get ready was so fun!

This was a lovely house and a good base for exploring Caithness. The house was well equipped, the beds were very comfortable and the showers were hot. The house was lovely and warm to combat the chilly weather outside! Our hosts were friendly and check in / check out was simple. There was plenty of room for the 10 people in our party. Our children particularly enjoyed the sand dunes at Dunnet Bay and rock pooling at Ham Harbour - even in the rain. There was a nice walk from nearby Lybster Harbour along the cliff tops.
