The treehouses are walking distance to the entrance to Mt Yasur. Fantastic location! There are 3 treehouses and the one in the pictures is the best one with the best views. You may not get this treehouse as it depends on who has already arrived. The communication isn’t good - virtually non existent through email so I’d suggest you txt and/or call Robert to confirm the details of your stay. You should also confirm the transfers to and from the airport. We paid Vatu 7500 each way for the transfer whereas other singles paid 2500. The food is really good considering - lunch was 700 and dinner 1000. Rice, eggs, curried vegetables and chicken for dinner. The entrance fee to the volcano is 9750 but is most definitely worth it! There is a hot spring river that goes onto the beach nearby which was a good outing for us. Cost 1000 pp. Keep in mind this is very basic accommodation but it’s wonderful in many ways. The people are so friendly. You will sleep with wind blowing thru the trees and rumblings from the volcano. Be prepared to be woken by roosters throughout the early morning - eg from 3am. A really interesting and memorable experience!

K Nelson took great care of us, he is always willing to educate about the local culture and the organization of the activities offered on the island.

What an incredible stay on Tanna island ! Jackson, Philip and Charley were all very friendly and welcoming, giving a lot of informative explanations and always ready to help us to plan activities and make our stay here perfect. We hiked the volcano, went to the hot springs, walked on the ash plain, visited the blue hole, visited Yakel village and learned more about local traditions like leaf breading. We booked our flight ticket 1 or 2 days before coming, at Air Vanuatu office (you can check the schedule on their website but not book it). They went to pick us up at the arrival by taxi (2 500 Vatu/pax). You can also come to Tanna with the ferry, there are 2 per week, one from Vanuatu ferry, one from Tanna ferry. If you didn't get any message from Jackson by Airbnb, you can send one to the Face book page Yasur Backpackers to make sure all is good. You can also send them message here if you need any further information.

We really loved our stay with Tom's family, they made us feel very welcome. You can get a dinner at the little restaurant they run (or used to run as everything is currently very quiet with no tourists). The place is so beautiful with a little beach you can swim in where all the locals go. The kids are happy to play with you, and Tom's daughter, Sarah was so friendly and showed us around. It's all a bit rundown with no tourists revenue, so you have to be okay with that, and we were aware of that prior to coming, having travelled Vanuatu for a couple of weeks. Water and power is intermittent (still a luxury on this remote island we think). Contrary to the other reviews we didn't encounter any rats. Currently Tom is locked out of his Airbnb account, so unless that gets sorted, the communication might be tricky, be mindful of that. Also the phone number that shows on the account is lost. We just showed up, and they were unaware of our booking, however ever so welcoming. Thank you.
