Everything was so beautiful and magical! Beautiful location and room, warm hospitality, great breakfast! And good coffee. We will definetly come back to Jiwa Laut.

Very great atmosphere. The house invites you to sit all day in the garden and read. The beach is very close and nice for walks or surfing. There are restaurants in the area. Would come back again immediately.

Jiwa Laut is a very special place, more than just a joglo at the beach, it is a hub for efforts to protect and improve the local environment and beyond. The hosts have won awards all over the world for their documentary film about plastic waste in Java and they are happy to answer any questions you might have. We visited on a Friday and had the beautiful beaches, nestling between the cliffs, more or less to ourselves. Obviously great effort is put in to keeping them beautiful and clean. The accommodation is very private and restful, full of beautiful objects. Highly recommend to order ikan bakar (bbq fish) for dinner!

We’ve loved our stay at Jiwa Laut. The people are very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend to do the cooking class :)

This is a really special place! A local villager picked me up from the airport (even waited hours when my flight was delayed) and brought me straight to the place. I was lucky to stay in the best ocean view cabin, as I was there so long without other people on the property, and it was incredible! You can hear the roar of the ocean from everywhere on the property, you’re smack in the middle of nature (which does mean bugs, but they provide citronella spray!). The food is all homemade, delicious, and very healthy and the coffee was out of this world!! The hosts were really great, organizing trips into the village, to local festivals, etc. They were also extremely knowledgeable about the land, local culture, and were incredibly interesting people to talk to! It’s a rustic place, but you can absolutely tell how much love, effort and care went into it and how dedicated they are to their environmental efforts. I feel lucky to have stayed as long as I did!
