Hill House Garuda is situated in a beautiful part of Toraja where the mountain air is cool and the breeze in the evening means you sleep well. We slept on the new queen sized bed which was very comfortable. Agus and her two lovely young children looked after our needs - supplying breakfast and dinner on request - always with a smile. Ayub, who speaks excellent English picked us up at the airport and was our very informative guide for the next two days. We learned so much about Torajan culture and were lucky to see a wedding and also attend a funeral. We bought food in the market to cook the very special Pa’Piong which Ayub is very proficient at. It’s cooked in bamboo over an open fire and tastes delicious. If you want to experience living in a quiet place out of town with beautiful locals to look after you we highly recommend.

Our stay at Mama Tia Homestay went very well. We were well received and ate well. Common spaces make it possible to create moments of conviviality between guests. We also have the option to do laundry. Yansen is a great guide. He answers all our questions and teaches us a lot about the traditions of the Toraja people. He takes the time to explain all these traditions that matter so much here, in impeccable English! We really enjoyed our stay, it was a stopover that marked our trip. In short, the Mama Tia Homestay is a very good value for money for all the services offered and their qualities.

We had a great stay here - a real family atmosphere with the other guests. Meyske and her mum also make amazing food and we shared dinner with everyone. Meyske is an amazing host and guide and helped us to sort and arrange everything whilst we were there. If you're coming to Toraja, stay here!

Our stay at Wiland's place was an exceptional experience. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond in every detail to ensure everything was perfect. His kindness and willingness to help with anything we needed made us feel incredibly welcome. As a guide, he is unparalleled, if you want to truly discover the region, there's no better person to show you around. His knowledge and passion for the area added so much to our trip. The connection we formed was truly special, and our stay was enriched by his warmth and generosity. We couldn’t have asked for a better host, and we leave with wonderful memories of both the place and the person. Highly recommended!

The stay at Panorama Homestay was very good. Yakobus and his family are very friendly, the rooms were clean and the breakfast was also good. The double bedroom has a nice bathroom, but the bathroom of the twin bedroom hasn't a propper sink. Thank you very much for the stay at your place.

I stayed 3 nights at Willanda’s place and it was amazing! My bus from Makassar arrived 2 hours before the scheduled time at 5 am and Wilanda was there to pick me up and check me in early. He is very flexible. Wilanda is also an amazing guide with a lot of knowledge about the Toraja area and culture. He helped me to arrange a scooter so I could explore the area. I was lucky to attend a very very very special ceremony that I will never forget thanks to Wilanda. I learned a lot about the culture in Toraja and how the ceremonies goes here. I had also the once in a life time chance to meet his mom, family and his friends and had a wonderfull time with them. Everybody was kind and thought me something about the culture and history. His mom is a truly amazing women. Beside that I had also wonderfull and good conversation with Wilanda about life, politics, and travels since his English is perfect. I recommend staying at Wilanda’s place for a unique experience and nice villa!
