Pet-friendly vacation rentals in Kaikoura Flat

Due to a car emergency, my family and I (6 adults and 2 children) had to find a place to stay and quickly!!! We can across Close to Home's Airbnb and felt like it would be the perfect fit for our needs. When we arrived we were able to relax and unwind from the stress of the car troubles. The house is very spacious with a cosy fireplace, comfortable bedrooms, clean bathrooms and kitchen, and a washer and dryer. It was perfect!! We even needed to extend a second night and they were very accommodating and quick to respond to our messages and requests. Would definitely stay there again. Thank you so much!

Ocean view house, close to where to see whales, great location and very clean room. Recommended

Atypical and charming place. Our kids loved sleeping in the old stagecoach garage with the horse stools on display as decoration. Mike and Linda were very welcoming and showed us around the property which has many surprises in store! Despite the rainy weather we had a lovely time!

Great place for families - spacious home, clean and tidy. Only a short drive from town centre. Phillis lovely to deal with.

Absolutely wonderful! Beautiful location in walking distance to a lovely trail! Very nice accommodation! Raylene was so very kind!!!! She was wonderful with communicating and very accommodating when we accidentally left something behind and went back to retrieve it. Would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you Raylene!!!!

Awesome house with great views over the ocean! The house is very spacious (much larger than anticipated) and has all the required amenities. In particular, we enjoyed the large bath tub, the gym space in the garage, the fire place in the living room, and the big terrace with views. Also, great communication with the host. Definitely recommend for anyone staying a few days in Kaikoura!

The place was great. Very close to many area attractions and areas of interest, like whale watching tours. Very clean and updated accommodation, felt right at home. Thanks for a great stay.

We stayed here for 2 nights in our South Island road trip hoping to see whales. Sadly we didn’t see any this time. We had torrential rain and it was cold. But… we loved the town and this cute period villa. House was cosy warm and comfortable. We had a fab dinner at The Whaler and even better at the Pier. We had wanted to go to Nins bins but was too wet. Highlights were the shops, the coffee (excellent coffee right next door!) and the Kent fireplace inside the lounge. Thank you!!

A couple of things, Pet/Park fee: If you’re bringing a pet, you’ll pay an extra fee on top of the Airbnb rate. TinyAway listed it, but it wasn’t obvious. My partner and I missed it when we reviewed the listing and only realized it after booking. We share some responsibility, but it could’ve been clearer. The drive up: 4WD is essential for steep areas unsuitable for city cars. Driving up and down the mountain was terrifying but memorable. Pictures of retrieving the key would’ve been helpful. Summer: We visited in the summer, and it was extremely hot. We couldn’t spend time outside because of the flies. This isn’t a complaint about our hosts, but a heads up for anyone coming in the summer. Hosts: TinyAway as the main host were very responsive, sub host Tim was not, so that could be improved. View: The view is absolutely gorgeous. Loved it. Home: I thought the home was clean, my partner thought the fridge wasn’t. Eco-toilet took a little getting used to. Bring your own food/snacks.

Although it was only one night, it was a special experience. Being able to hear the voices of animals and birds so close is another perk of this hotel. The feeding, which started at 9 a.m.was a particularly exciting experience for our children. This is a highly recommended accommodation for those who are highly environmentally conscious. thanks！

The house was very clean when we arrived and had pretty much everything that it said it would . One of the door locks in the lounge area needs to be fixed , but that’s a small job to fix . It was lovely and cosy , close to town and the mountain views were stunning . We loved it there despite the weather being a bit rainy .

We had a faultless stay - the yurt was so fun, very well decorated, well equipped with coffee, tea, farm fresh eggs, bread and jam. The bed and chairs were very comfortable and the kitchen was clean and well equipped also - nice and rustic! We love camping and this was super fun glamping. Don't expect a 5 star resort, it's a unique glamping experience - we've never seen anything like it and we loved it! We went on a llama trek one day (highly recommend - another unique experience!) and fed the animals on the farm the following day - a really great experience! They have other "wacky" accommodation too including a train carriage, teepee, gypsy truck and large old horse drawn wagon - so cool! Would definitely want to try out the wagon next time too... Kevin was friendly, welcoming and helpful! Genuinely loved this place. A highlight of our two weeks in NZ for sure!

we loved it. very spacious with room for our family of 4. very close to Kaikoura proper, super close to the shore and a gorgeous track. owners are great with great recommendations. we'd def stay again if we come back to New Zealand. gorgeous area!

Jennifer's place home away home. Felt so comfortable away from home. Each and every thing, she has given importance for the comfort of residents. One need not worry about any thing. She is a wonderful host, waited for us to reach the place and given all the information needed for us and left. She has maintained that place so neat and comfy. We would love to return to Kaikura and stay in Jennifer's place and also recommend this place for every one. Home away home. Wonderful break fast with lots of variety and no one is left out in that spread. She has even taken care of small details for us, when we reached so late. Thank you Jennifer for the hospitality and god bless you.

Really quite and beautiful place, enjoy the time in the mountains

Amazing place with incredible scenery in both poor and good conditions. Great for an exciting adventure with all of the usual comforts once indoors, really enjoyable to live in a simple and minimal way up in the mountains.

We had a fantastic stay in Kaikoura! The place was spotless, well-equipped, and super comfortable. The location was perfect—just a short distance from the peninsula walk, which made exploring really convenient. One of the highlights was waking up to the stunning sunrise views every morning. The scenery from the property was absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend this spot for anyone visiting Kaikoura!

If you’re adventurous and enjoy unique places, then like us, you’ll love this place!Thankfully for us the weather cleared the afternoon we arrived and we had fantastic views of the mountains and surrounding areas. Some persistent stoking of the hot tub paid off and a good relaxing soak in steaming hot water as the clouds rolled in and rain started in the late evening was beautiful!
