Vacation rentals in Kagawa District, Naoshima

Perfect stay for Naoshima Island. Authentic Japanese house with lots of space in a quiet area. We loved it and would recommend to anyone visiting. Having the e-bikes pre booked and already at the house for us was so convenient

This stay was our most amazing experience in 12 years of visiting Airbnbs in many countries. Kōichirō-san and Mayu-san were so warm and friendly that they made us feel welcome from the start. Communication was easy through Google translate and we had fun learning about the island wildlife, including the elusive, very cute tanuki. Walking through the forest and along the beaches, Kōichirō-san showed us the special retreat he’s creating on Mukoujima, which showcases historic Japanese life. Every day he took us in his boat to Honmura so we could walk around Naoshima and picked us up at the end of the day. And the food was superlative! Each breakfast and dinner was full of delicious homegrown, homemade treats. Pickles to die for, oden with chikuwa, daikon and other goodies, kuramame and other sweet bean treats, and fresh fruit from the garden. We’ve never eaten better or more authentically in Japan. We can’t wait to come back with our daughters, to see how Kōichirō’s dream is developing.

It was such a treat to stay in this spacious house by the beach with our kids (they didn’t want to leave). Our host was incredibly kind and helped to us to find dinner one night, get our luggage to the house, and helped us with all our questions. The location meant we could always get a seat on the bus because it was the start of the line. And the house was well equipped for all our needs.

Hiromi's place is highly recommended! We stayed there on the way to Naoshima and the place Tamano is also totally beautiful and interesting to explore. The place is very well equipped and was very clean and beautifully decorated. Hiromi was very kind to us and was quick to respond to our questions. The property is not far from the harbor where the ferry goes to Naoshima and there is a 7Eleven right on the corner. We would stay at this property again at any time and would also recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Tamano.

Lovely to stay in an authentic Japanese house. The mattress style beds were laid out and made for us. There was lovely tea ready too. Also a hairdryer, washing machine and guest book. Lisa was very responsive and even called up a bicycle rental place for us. We could drop our bags early at the house. The bathroom is modern and living space and bedrooms are beautiful. The garden is immaculate also and beautiful to overlook. The kitchen could do with a small update, maybe just the floor surface as it looks very vintage. Overall a lovely stay.

Beautiful traditional house, with great seaview, a few minutes away from uno port with easy access to ferries for naoshima/teshima. The house is very spacious and has all the amenities needed. The host made sure to provide clear instructions for checking in and finding the house. We used the complimentary bikes which was super helpful for moving around. Nothing to fault, will definitely be back for our next trip to naoshima!

Yumi was very kind and helpful and gave us perfect recommendations for the area. Everything is walkable. Uno Nido is an ideal base close to the port for excursions to Naoshima and Teshima. The design is minimalist and intentional. We loved it!

Jen and Ono’s AirBNB stands out. Not many AirBNBs like this exist any more! Jen was incredibly generous and knowledgeable with her recommendations and insight. It was our third time on Naoshima and we still learned a lot and appreciated some incredible tips. The space itself was homely, clean and lovely, and was a great base for the four of us to explore from. We feel grateful to have stayed here. Thank you Jen and Ono!

Going to Naoshima and staying at Ayu’s was a highlight of our trip to Japan! Naoshima is such an interesting, beautiful island, and Ayu’s house is well-located to explore it. The house is on a hill so away from the busier parts of the main town, but it’s an easy walk wherever you want to go (or drive, if you don’t like hills). It’s quiet and comfortable and had everything we needed. But the best part was Ayu and her family. Ayu is an incredible host: she provided us with great recommendations, made a dinner reservation for us, and even picked us up from the ferry. She and her family are lovely and friendly and made us feel so at home. We’d absolutely stay with them any time.
