This gorgeous cottage offers the perfect intimate or family getaway. With a bar and luxury bathtub on the deck you will feel free and happy taking in the amazing ocean view. (Bath in summer is subject to water availability). Beaches, cafes, hotel, restaurants, cellar doors and tourist attractions are all within a walk or short drive. Kangaroo Island is as picturesque as it is rugged and I am yet to find a person disappointed with their stay on the island and more importantly, in my cottage.

The property had two separate spaces, which was perfect for accommodating both early sleepers and those who wanted to stay up late. The town itself was peaceful, and its proximity to the jetty made it ideal for fishing. The place was well-equipped with everything we needed, making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, a fantastic experience!

Marine Cottage was perfect. The view was spectacular with the beach directly in front. The house had everything we needed, was extremely clean and had personal touches like fresh eggs and water. A great place to stay if you want a peaceful location close to a nice town and beautiful beaches. We really enjoyed Bretts cabin as a base to explore the island. It’s well equipped for cooking, great bathroom and deck to sit out in the evening and watch the stars with a glass of wine. Brett is a really nice guy and very helpful with recommendations and advice. His dog Chase is very friendly too!

A great place to stay on KI if you're after somewhere with that remote feeling but still close enough to the main towns to get supplies. Good access to the main roads running through the Island as well so was easy to get around for day trips. The views across the lagoon were fantastic and saw an abundance of wildlife around the house (can definitely recommend filling up the bird baths).

Place is beautiful and matches photos! Furnishings are very well thought out and instantly give you a holiday vibe. We had a local koala in the next door neighbour’s tree and we saw an echidna cross the road not far from the property. The beach was fun to fish in the evening and the beach definitely looked like a good crabbing beach throughout the day. Great central location, being not far from Kingscote and not far from Penneshaw. There are no supplies available without a drive though so make sure you have supplies. Would highly recommend to others if you are looking for a relaxing getaway! Kevin is a great host to deal with also, thanks again for a lovely stay.

Very nice place to stay while visiting Kingscote, spacious, quiet and convenient. Enjoyed the balcony and the view. The kitchen and bathrooms were adequately equipped, but you need to bring your own tissues and paper towels. Great to have an ensuite as well as a full bathroom. Good parking.

We had a fantastic stay from start to finish at this beautiful property. Rachel was friendly and so helpful, providing excellent advice on itineraries and travel plans. We were impressed by the home, which has been thoughtfully set up to make guests as comfortable as possible. We arrived to complimentary wine, Easter eggs, milk and snacks. The house was well equipped with board games, toiletries, toys and beach stuff for the kids. The house has beautiful French doors leading out to an outdoor table, comfortable beds and a lovely landscaped garden. We found the location ideal for our kangaroo island adventure, it is close to local amenities but also feels very peaceful and quiet. We often saw kangaroos either on or across the road from the property. We were two families travelling together and found the house was well laid out for us to be together and also have our own space. Could not recommend more highly, we will be back! Thank you Rachel!

We had a really wonderful stay. Sue was incredibly helpful and accomodating. The house was beautifully presented. Plenty of inclusions, that made our stay really comfortable. The location right on the beach front was lovely. I enjoyed looking out from the large front deck every morning. We were sad to be leaving, but will endeavour to return one day.

Tucked away on the northern shores of Kangaroo Island, and nestled between Brown Beach and Sapphiretown, lies Island Beach — a secluded oasis and a haven for some of the island’s abundant wildlife, including kangaroos, koalas, sea lions, and diverse birdlife. Its pristine, azure waters and vast stretches of pearly white sand are bound by dense coastal bushland and gentle waves. Spanning nearly 3.5 miles, Island Beach offers a serene coastal getaway, where you can dip into the clear, shallow waters for a relaxing swim, take a stroll along the expansive shoreline, or rent a kayak for a peaceful paddle around Eastern Cove.

Island Beach is a great starting point for exploring the rest of Kangaroo Island. You can make the short drive to the American River and sample wines at local wineries, grab a bite to eat at a restaurant on the wharf, or stop off in the nearby town of Penneshaw for some penguin spotting.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Island Beach

One of the best times to enjoy Island Beach is during the summer months (December through February), when the warm temperatures make for ideal swimming, hiking, boating, and fishing conditions. In winter (June through August), colonies of fur seals and sea lions sunbathe on the rocks for warmth, and whales can be spotted breaching offshore at different spots around the island. Temperatures during this time can be chilly, with a high chance of rain and strong winds. If you plan to visit during this time, be sure to pack some extra layers. Spring (September through November) boasts pleasant temperatures, with blooming wildflowers and native plants adorning the lush surrounding landscape. Warm daytime temperatures during the fall provide a comfortable climate for outdoor activities. Penneshaw

Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island’s second-largest town, is approximately a 15-minute drive from Island Beach. Situated on the shores of Hog Bay, Penneshaw provides abundant opportunities to admire local wildlife and is known for its colony of wild penguins, which you can spot during the evenings on guided tours. You’ll also find plenty of spots here to dine and sample renowned local wines.

Remarkable rocks

On the southern coast of Kangaroo Island, around a two-hour drive from Island Beach, you’ll find one of the island’s stunning geological phenomena. Perched atop the cliff overlooking the sea lies a spectacular display of granite boulders with a unique coastal formation that has been shaped over millions of years by the wind, rain, and waves. The boardwalk to the site provides stunning views of the surrounding bays, bushland, and the historic Cape du Couedic Lighthouse.

Prospect Hill

You can make your way to Prospect Hill in just nine minutes by car. The scenic trail begins at the car park just off Hog Road and there are 500 steps to reach the peak, which is also the highest point on Kangaroo Island. Your efforts will be rewarded with spectacular, panoramic views of the island.
