Farmstay vacation rentals in Hessequa Local Municipality

I recently enjoyed a wonderful one night stay at Gillian's lovely studio flat in the grounds of her family's beautiful guest farm a short distance up the river from Stilbaai. It was the perfect base from which to explore on my first visit to Stilbaai. Very well appointed flat, with all amenities etc., a really comfortable bed, and a great shower. Stunning views all around, and though I didn't walk on the farm at all due to my short stay, Gillian told me that this is possible. They can also provide kayaks for venturing out onto the beautiful Goukou River, which flows past the bottom of the driveway. I had dinner at On The Rocks, which was great value, and then wandered around beautiful Stilbaai and took lots of pictures. Next morning I found the amazing Coffee and Cream café in town, which Gillian recommended to me. Incredible selection of cakes, pastries etc. I rounded my visit off with a gin and gin-infused ice cream tasting at Inverroche gin distillery nearby. A perfect ending. Thx.

We had a wonderful time at David's cottage and would definitely recommend this spot. There's heaps to do in the surrounding areas but just chilling out and disconnecting and exploring the farm is enough! Thank you Colleen and Janie.

This was an amazing 2 night stay. Welcoming hosts and and a beautiful setting. Woke up to the sounds of nature and the farm. Plenty to do on the farm and near by in stilbaai.

Amazing stay for a night on the Garden Route. The animals crossing through the yard, the giraffes feeding right out the window and the white horses greeting us at our front door was just magical!

We were welcomed from the moment we drove through the gate to the basket of goodies we needed. Absolutely lovely! The dirt road may seem long to get to the farm but just enjoy the ride and the farm is beautiful!!! I Wish we would have planned a couple days just to sit back and enjoy everything. We were still glad we went and hosts went up and beyond to help us out!!! Special place! Highly recommend!

I loved the time spent at Rooikop. The Breede has always occupied a special place in my heart and it was a privilege to share it with my folks and children.

What a wonderful cottage and lovely host. The cottage was much larger than expected and beautifully decorated with surprising details - it’s clear that the host has a customer-centric mindset as amenities are very functional and user-friendly. The bathrooms were spotless and large - loved the plants, little bench, and mirrors. Comfortable bedrooms with lovely linen. The views are balm for the troubles and stressed soul. Loved the kitchen sliding window and the outside chairs are a nice and unexpected touch. Loved that the remote controlled fan was mounted against the wall - the room and overall cottage was lovely and cool while the sunshiny outdoors were 🥵. The fresh farm eggs and milk reminded me of my childhood on my grandparents’s farm - delicious and so appreciated. The stay was much more than we expected and at an excellent price. Thank you Bernadine and David for your hospitality and thoughtfulness. Bernadine, you are hands down the best host we have come across!

If it’s peace and quiet you’re looking for, it’s here where you’ll find it. Imagine being on a farm with stunning views, 20 odd kilometers from Riversdal of which 18km is gravel road. Friendly hospitality from Braham, his son Aiden and their 8 month old Jack Russel, Haitchi. It felt like staying over at family. Our toddler had a ball. Feeding sheep, swimming, running around, looking at all the animals. Our dog had even a greater time playing with Haitchi. THANKS Braham!

Sooooo beautiful, extremely romantic! We were blown away by the tiny details- little flowers everywhere, a hammock, deck chairs to star gaze. Really worthwhile, we will be back!

We absolutely loved staying here! The cottage was so cute with a great outdoor area and that deck with the hot tub! Just amazing! Spent the evening in the tub searching for animals in the distance, ended up seeing water buffalo and antelope! Also loved seeing the ostriches in the morning right by the fence! I’ve never been so close to them before it was really cool. Would definitely stay again if I was in the area :)

It was a wonderful place to rest amidst nature, animals, and stars. I definitely recommend anyone to stay here. The hosts are very kind, and the facilities are perfect for enjoyment. My kids also love this place, and we will visit again.

It was a home away from home. I love everything about it and I’m definitely coming. The warmth I felt there from welcoming to a nice chill with the hosts made my trip complete.

It's a very picturesque place, an attachment to the main house built inside of what used to be a water reservoir!! It is perfectly transformed in an unique and beautiful ensuite room, confortable and cozy. Despite the fact that we arrived very late and on really short notice (we booked the place while we were on the road and just a couple of hours away), Neels was extremely friendly and helpful, he offered us welcoming drinks, let us use the kitchen facilities on the outside of the house and even shared his food with us!! We didn't get to meet his wife, who was out of town at the occasion, but we met their three beautiful dogs, which are very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it, but notice that it is a small farm a little bit away from the town.

Alchemy Retreat is absolutely beautiful. Food for the soul! The house is perfect for large groups or big families with lots of kids. The house is well-equipped, spacious and has such a great feel to it. Johnathan (Farm Manager) was amazing. So helpful and responsive. Will most certainly be back for another visit!

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Kliphuis. We could switch off and relax from the moment we got there. The directions and self-checkin worked very well. The house had everything we needed, even an ice machine. As our host Jacques was not expecting any guests on the day of our departure, he offered that we could stay an extra night if we wanted to, and of course we did! It felt as if we were in the middle of nowhere, we did not see other people for our whole stay. Although the place is quite remote, its very safe and there is cellphone reception. The huge stoep with comfy coaches on wheels and one of them hanging, was such a highlight. We sat on the stoep almost the whole day enjoying nature, birdlife in/around the river below, and the amazing view of the starts at night. We were woken up by 4 owls on the stoep on our last morning, what a treat for birders. We were also fortunate that there was water in the river during a hot December.

Sionsberg is an absolute gem. The perfect place to escape city stress and corporate mayhem and just come up for air. Anita's home is magnificent - beautifully curated, high quality bed linen, well-equipped, loads of small special touches and a truly exquisite garden. She went out of her way to ensure we had a wonderful time.

We had a fantastic stay in Barrydale and Daph was an extremely friendly, helpful host. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer than one night, but we'll definitely make an effort to visit again in the future.
