We walked in the property in awe..!! What an amazing place “house on the hill” is. My wife and I couldn’t stop looking out at the view even at night time when it was dark. Under floor heating and a log fire certainly keeps you cozy throughout your stay. We had a bath on both nights together and we could sit side by side it’s that big and take in the view of the stars and planets. That was a first for both of us..!!! The bed is that comfy my wife had decided we need one exactly like it and the same size, which I’ve agreed too. We took in a day in Elie, Pitwimmen, St Monans & Anstruther. We had breakfast at the Pavillion and meal at Ship Inn. Both places were lovely and great food. We haven’t had the luxury like this before so we are going to book again for next year. Absolutely excellent! Wish I could give John and Honeymug six stars. The cottage was a true home-from-home. It was comfy, cosy, well-equipped and just perfect for a family getaway. The host really had thought of everything from local walk guides, books, DVDs, towels for the dog … everything! I could’ve stayed for weeks. The holiday cottage site was an amazing bonus. We were expecting a pool and a gym, however these has recently been renovated to include an outside hot tub, sauna, steam room and excellent luxe facilities. An amazing added bonus. I didn’t want to leave! My teenager loved the gym while his younger siblings enjoyed the games room with pool table. We were pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant on site too. We had an issue with the DVD player not working and John came the next day to replace it. Awesome host. Beautiful location. Fantastic base to explore Northumberland and everything it has to offer. Highly recommend!

Lovely time with family at this great cottage. We had never been to this part of Scotland before and Penpont was a very convenient base to explore from. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay for four adults - we loved the log fire and the hot tub! The kitchen is well equipped for self catering and the beds are comfortable. An excellent place to stay for small groups.

We were looking for a total peaceful break, clear instructions on how to use amenities, hot tub was really clean and really warm so enjoyed hours relaxing in it! Thank you Ainslie ❤️

Our stay at Laura's house was incredible. She provided everything we needed and more. We had our 1yr and 3yr with us and she had a toy for them, provided a high chair and bath seat along with the cot we requested. The house was so clean and beautiful, everything was perfect! Loved being surrounded by farm land, you can see Wallace Monument from the back of the house. The back patio is fenced in so our boys could play safely. We loved the hot tub! What a bonus! Laura responded to every message immediately, she had a welcome basket of food and champagne for us, she was so helpful and accommodating. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Very well designed cottage making the best possible use of quite a small space - with both a shower room and bathroom , utility room as well as kitchen/living space and the patio with hot tub. Although near to the High Street with a range of takeaways and a superb butcher (Hunters) the cottage is in a very quiet street. The nearby Curate Wynd free car park was very handy and we could unload from there. Although Dawn and Darren were away Dawn was on hand to answer any queries. We had a great three day break - spending the days at the RSPB Nature Reserve in stunning weather. We ate out one night at the Balgedie Toll Tavern - highly recommended for great food and very good service.

From the decoration to the location , Katrina's cottage is beautiful. it was so clean which was fantastic too. The hot tub was so relaxing with the view adding to the experience.. the privacy screens were very thoughtful too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return

Wonderful stay. The location is absolutely superb. What amazing views and so peaceful and remote. Sitting in the hot tub looking out over the hills was pure bliss!! And the stars you could see on a clear night, wow. Despite being so remote it’s close enough to Edinburgh that you can drive in and do all the attractions. So just perfect. Kylie was a fab host too, leaving Easter eggs for the kids and letting the kids feed her kunekune pig one day! The animals are great, especially Karen then hen, although she will come inside if allowed haha! All in all, we had a fantastic stay. Thank you Kylie

We rented Ladywell Lodge with the Doocot for a large family holiday. Though the cottage is up in the hills, it was very quick to get to major routes. The lodge was perfect for the two couples who stayed there. It is tucked away in its own large outdoor space with woods and hill walks just moments away. It was comfortable and clean with everything as described. The kitchen was well laid out and the sitting room really cosy. The hosts were great too - Sandra is really responsive and we found the flexible check in really good. It was perfect for our family and being able to pair renting this with the Doocot meant we had a brilliant space for lots of people to stay. My husband and I would love to go back and would happily rent the lodge again as it was so comfortable in a beautiful setting. Highly recommend.

Great stay in Philippa’s place, very cosy and set out in the countryside. Would definitely come back for some quiet time.

We had a lovely stay in the cottage, it was clean & tidy, loved the wood burner, the bedrooms were lovely especially the master bedroom…very comfy bed. Loved the garden with lots of different seating areas, beautiful view & very peaceful. A 2 minute walk up to the town for shops, restaurants & bars & a 5 minute walk down to the dairy milk bar for fabulous ice creams & milkshakes. Lots of gorgeous near by walks too. A lovely stay & would definitely book again. Thank you Pam.

What a lovely cottage! Julie and Nigel's cottage is a real home from home, and it matches the photographs perfectly. Thoughtfully decorated, and made to feel homely with blankets, pictures, books etc. Homemade bread and delicious muffins, plus milk and tea and good coffee were most welcome. I appreciated the use of Eco friendly cleaning products and shampoos etc. Comfortable bed with cotton duvet cover and comfy pillows. Big, fluffy towels were great. There are maps and suggestions of places to visit and eat. Julie sent me some recommendations too which were helpful. Friendly neighbours who are keen to share information too. It is perfect for two people - and our dog was made ever so welcome too. Julie and Nigel were responsive to messages right from booking to the end of our stay. Thank you Julie and Nigel for letting us stay in your lovely home.

The cottage was excellent Linda was very friendly the village doesn’t have anything in it bar a hotel and shop but it’s really good for dog walking which was what we were after. Highly recommend if you want it quiet

Lovely old cottage in a beautiful village. Easy drive to St Andrews and Fife coast. Hilary responded very promptly to any queries.

As a group of 5 girls visiting the area for a wedding 20 minutes away in Culross, Pascale's Lodge was everything we could have wanted. Pascale is so great to communicate with guests, we amended our booking to add the 2 extra people in February and she immediately adjusted the cost and informed me that it was all ok. The house has everything you need, and was comfortable even at full capacity. The countryside is so beautiful, we were sorry not to have the time to explore! It was easy to arrange for local taxis to and from the wedding venue and an Uber from the airport was reasonable too. There is just one bathroom, so we needed to stick to a rota but water was hot for every shower. We cooked on the first evening and the kitchen was perfect. It was so quiet overnight, and everyone had plenty of space to sleep. An added bonus was meeting Hector and Buddy, Pascale's beautiful dogs. This place is incredibly good value, the host is kind and communicative, we highly recommend!

Highly enjoyable stay - very easy checkin, great location, very nice cottage. Really easy to get around (with car), Bostock bakery just 5 mins down the road Highly recommended for a nice trip away - Edinburgh was a 40min drive too

We were in Elie for 2 nights and the Cupboard was great for a short stay as we ate out both nights. Although exceptionally well equipped for such a short space it would have been difficult to cook. due to the lack of workspace. The design of the space is exceptional for the size of the space and the wood burner kept us lovely and cosy. There are 5 beds all together but it would have been a challenge having more than the 2 of us and our wee dog. We love Elie and will be back and it's very likely that we will use Short Stay St Andrews again.

Lovely cottage and surroundings. Homemade bread on arrival was a nice touch. Read in earlier reviews about deer on the lawn. It's true! Would highly recommend.

Ellen had great communication and made sure that everything was in place for our trip as we were catering a Christmas dinner cooked by chef. The ample furniture was such a bonus and it was very comfortable. The location is stunning so much so that whilst on my stay there I decided to put in an offer on a property around the corner to live out my retirement there!!!!! Nothing short of amazing! A nature lover’s paradise (even with the Scottish weather). Got dry weather for an hour one morning haha so had a lovely breakfast in the garden. Met two tiny (literally newborn) lambs in the field next to us! All wobbly on their feet. So cute!! Friendly hosts, very clean and well decorated.

Just back from a lovely stay at the cottage for a few days. It was so cosy and comfortable and there were lovely little touches to welcome us (special mention to the beautiful sea views and comfy beds). Hosts were friendly & responsive from start to finish and gave lots of great local recommendations and clear instructions. Enjoyed Crail and all it had to offer, will definitely return to this gorgeous cottage!
